The question itself is wrong, as there is mention of percentages and in the table the total is not equal to hundred.

Hi sampathgelam, the percentages in this question do not need to add upto 100 because each number in the table is an individual percent. For eg., 4% of all Chemists wear Earplugs or Hearing Protection and 52% of all Chemists wear Goggles or Eye Protection.

Official Explanation

Statement 1: This explain why veterinarians require less protective gear than surgeons and paramedics.

Answer: Would help explain

Statement 2: This could explain why paramedics often need earplugs, but construction workers need them even more often.

Answer: Would help explain

Statement 3: Only a small percentage of janitors are paid extra to clean hazardous areas. This does not explain why a fairly high percentage of janitors wear gloves.

Answer: Would not help explain

Number-percentage fallacy is not taken into account while creating this question. Either a sample size OR directly the number of people should've been given here. Just mentioning the percentages arbitrarily complicates the problem unnecessarily.

but why should i need to know out side information( paramedic travels in ambulance) to answer second part of this question correctly?

Since GMAT wont require us to require to be known of outside information, i think for Q2 the answer should be'would not help explain'

can some one please clear this doubt of mine?

The percentage of construction workers getting an earplug/hearing protection is more than the percentage of paramedics getting it. So, it does help explain.

That's what i am confused about, what does paramedic has to do with sound of ambulance? i think the question should mention that paramedic spend their day inside ambulance hearing its loud noise all the time and not anywhere else.

I agree. This question comes with an assumption that you know what these job roles are.

But on the exam, you won't see anything that'll assume you have a background on the subject.

So don't worry about it too much, as it's not an official question.
