Two alumns (one of whom was Class of 2019) and one another on chat who was silent with camera off (ad-com member maybe).
Interview was friendly and conversational. Questions asked were:-
1. Describe a project where the project itself was impact and how did you go about it;
2. A think that you encountered outside your core domain during the project at #1 or any other project.
3. Ethical challenges faced and how did you deal with them
4. If you're a partner tomorrow, how will you balance multiple interests when it comes to ethical challenges
5. Research on CAs and how they fare in placements at ISB
6. Why MBA? (asked in the form of "in my experience CAs generally don't need any other degree to reach upto CXO role)
6. What efforts you've made to bridge the skill gaps for which you seek an MBA
Overall, the interview was very relaxed, however, some of the questions (especially at 6) threw me off balance and in hindsight I feel I could have done much better.
It lasted for around 35 minutes.
For interview prep, I took mocks from preppie and their feedback was very pointed and very helpful. Would highly recommend.

Conversational interview
(2 panelists)
1. How is the covid situation where you are and what's the weather like?
2. Walk us through your professional journey, and describe 1 project each of the two firms you have worked in (went very deep into the projects)
3. Why ISB?
4. Any conflict you have faced and how you dealt with it?
5. Any challenges you faced and what did you learn
6. Any questions for us
Overall, it was a decent experience. The panelists were very friendly, and wanted to get to know you.
For interview prep, I took help from Preppie. They ask you proper profile related questions, and are very approachable to frame the general questions too!

Interview time: 4pm
Interview start time: 4:35pm
(There can be delay in your interview against start time so be prepared accordingly)
2 interviewers (Co'13 and Co'17)
1. Run us through your journey and 3 key lessons
(After I ran them through my journey, I paused and then one of them asked me a question on why MBA)
2. You didn't mention the 3 key lessons
(I substantiated and gave 3 key lessons, in the end the interviewer asked me a question on the 1st key lesson that I mentioned - so yes they will pick up every word you mention)
3. Questions based on essay (lot of them) - Something on the likes of "What I would do if I were a manager"
4. Question on FinTech sector in India (Thanks Preppie for this)
5. Cross question on FinTech sector (Basically whatever you say, have a rational ready for you)
6. What are you passionate about apart from work?
7. You are from finance so why ISB?
8. Which other colleges have you applied to?
9. Tell us about your achievements at work
10. What do you actually do in your work - mention us a few deals?
11. What have you achieved differently than anyone else?
12. Questions on essay again
Duration: ~30 minutes
Then I asked them to introduce themselves - they did one by one. I was like "I just had a great conversation but you guys are pretty much strangers so why don't you two introduce yourself". They smiled and started introducing.
Then I asked them, "Tell me one thing that you do in your daily life which could be unique / something additive" (So the idea was not to go by the book and ask them about their experience at ISB). It's more about building comfort in the end I guess. The interviewers were like, "That's a tricky one because I cannot think of anything like that" (laughing)
Thanks to Preppie team for covering some of the essentials - It was great!

My Interview was taken by a couple of alums(One from the Co'16) while the adcom member was muted and his video was off.
It started off with the round of introductions and then the following questions were asked -
1. I was asked couple of questions on my background and the work i've done so far
2. Asked me about a challenge i had to face
3. Why MBA
4. Why not an Online Course from Coursera?
5. Since i come from consulting and have had a good career until now, why am i not pursuing strategy consulting instead of PM?
6. Why ISB?
7. How can i contribute to ISB?
Overall it was very conversational like all the other interviews and the panel was really warm. I did take a mock with preppie and got some really good insights. I took a couple of days to work on all the feedback provided and it really helped me prepare for the D-day and give my best. I would highly recommend you give it a try as you only get one shot at the ISB Interview and they'll help you cover all the angles possible.

My interview was taken by 2 alums (from 2007 and 2013 batch) and an admission committee member was also present with video and mic off.
The interview was majorly about my work experience, goals and contributions to the class of ISB. Major questions asked are as follows :
1. Tell us about yourself
2. Why did you choose to become a Chartered Accountant ?
3. What is accounting and what is your role as a Chartered Accountant ?
4. Tell us about the projects you handled and the way you helped your organisation increase revenue ?
5. Why MBA now and follow-up questions on it
6. What other roles are you aware of which ISB offers other than consulting ?
7. What will be your contributions to ISB ?
The interview lasted for around 30-35 minutes and was conversational in nature.
Would like to thank Strategy4gmat for helping me with my interview preparation. They gave me amazing and constructive feedbacks about the interview. Infact all the questions asked above were covered by them in detail. I enrolled for 3 mock interviews with Manan and his team.
All the best !!

The interview was with 2 alums, and an AdCom member (with his video & audio off the entire call). The interview was very smooth. Very very conversational. Questions asked:
1) Tell us about yourself.
2) Work instances for Biggest Challenge, Teamwork, and Conflict.
3) They drilled on the stories I gave. They wanted to make sure that the stories are real genuine and not made-up.
4) Why did you choose the unorthodox development sector after college, considering it doesn't pay much?
5) Why MBA? Why not MPP or MPH (because my long-term goal was related to public-health non-profits)?
6) You may be aware that consulting is a very tough goal. I'm sure you have a Plan B. What is your Plan B?
7) Another question on a story I mentioned in my essay.
8) Do you have any questions for us?
On a whole the interview went on for 45 minutes. I had a great time interviewing with the panel.
I prepared for the standard questions (from GMAT Club debriefs) on my own, and recited those answers while recording myself. I also prepared for Guesstimates and Case Study questions because a few debriefs mentioned that people with consulting goals can get those questions. None were asked in my interview though.
All the best!

8. What does leadership mean to me?
9. Is being a team player more important or a leader? - Gave a very diplomatic answer. They mentioned there's no right or wrong answer
10. Asked about my experience as Entrepreneurship Cell President and how does that fit into my profile and goals?

They were very accommodating in the mock schedule as well. I would highly recommend S4G for ISB application prep

My interview was conducted today and it last for around 25 mins. The following questions were asked
1) What do you to enjoy?
2) What do you use YouTube for? Tell me something that’s completely unusual
3) What are you roles at your company?
4) Short term long term goals-> Why MBA -> Why ISB. Grilled on Post MBA goals
5) What the differences between Japan and Thailand in terms of professional work (my work ex involved a lot of interaction with teams abroad)
6) Since your goals are very niche and few companies hire at ISB, how do you intend to go about it?
7) Is there something you’d like to ask us?
On the whole, the interview was less conversational, and was more about grilling. Questions were majorly around the application. For preparations, I used Preppie’s interview training and 2 on 1 mock. It was really helpful and gave a good valuable perspective before going into the actual interview.

I was interviewed by a panel of 3 alumni.
After my introduction(where I talked about my post ISB goals), the interview was focused on those goals. The first set of interview questions were around generic topics in the domain and situational questions.
The next set of questions were around my current role, situations where I had to collaborate with other teams, and my most difficult stakeholder interaction. I narrated the situations and there were follow-up questions on each of those.
In the end, we talked about ISB, what I am looking for, and what I would be bringing to the table.
I asked a few questions and we chatted for a few minutes before ending the interview.
I really want to thank Preppie for their help during my preparation. As a reapplicant this year, I was unsure about the narrative and branding that I need to develop as part of my application(mostly because I didn't get through last year). They helped me in those aspects and introduced me to multiple ISB alumni, who reviewed my application and shared feedback. This gave me that much-needed confidence while applying and during my interview.

My interview was scheduled for 12:00 PM, and there was no movement up till 12:15 PM. The actual interview started at 12:20 PM.
The panel had 3 people, 2 alums (1 male and senior, another female and comparatively junior) and an adcom member. The question were started by the male alum and the female alum followed. The questions were around the following:
1. Tell me about your academics and work experience to date. Cross questions on the same, actually a lot of cross questions.
2. Case study on my work domain, and further grilling around the same.
3. Another case study and this time my academic knowlege being put to test, as far as possible.
4. A question about my hobby and how I became the captain of my cricket team.
5. Question on conflict management.
6. Case study on my hobby (cricket)
7. Asked me about my another hobby, that is shayari writing, and I was asked to deliver a couple of shayaris.
8. Do you have any question for us
9. As a counter question to the question that I asked, I was asked about my short term goal and why that?
10. What if you get into PGP, sabbatical or resignation.
The interview was very interactive and the panel was very well aware of what they are asking and what they should ask. My both, academic as well as professional knowledge was put to test. 90% of the interview was work related and the interview lasted for around 45 minutes in toto.

Hi all,

After a brief introduction of themselves, they asked me the following questions.

I was interviewed by two alums of ISB. One was from US and one from Canada.
1. It started with introduction
2. walk us through your workex.
3. What do you think about the HRM market space and why the
product you are working on is a disrupter.

product. (Because I mentioned how SAP is growing old)
5. Why you want an MBA. (Grilled me a lot around this question)
6. Why you think you can not switch into product management
within your current organization.
7. Why you need an MBA to fill in your skills gap if you can learn this
even from joining a start up of starting one. ( I wasn't convincing
on this one)
8. What you think is stopping you from going to a product
management line now? And how ISB will help.
9. How you will contribute towards ISB.
10. Have you ever asked your managers for your desired role or
informed them about your goals.
I was grilled around this Why MBA question and I am not sure about how satisfactory my answers were. Overall it was a good interview. Will update this once I receive the final decision.

The panel consisted of two alums and one member from the adcom team (video off and on mute). Both of them were friendly and interactive in nature.
It started with an introduction, post which the questions were asked as follows:-
1. Tell me about your role at your current firm.
2. Follow-up question on my different roles and how I handle them.
3. Since, I have a gap in my profile due to CSE preparation, so is Civil Services still your dream?
4. Follow-up question on what was my learnings from the preparation?
5. How do you see the 1-year MBA v/s 2-year MBA?
6. Then they discussed and asked about my responsibility at the previous company?
7. What has been the major achievement at the workplace? (some discussion around this.)
8. Why do you want to do MBA at this point in time?
9. Tell us about one of the leadership experiences you had in your entire journey.
10. Since, I mentioned current affairs as one of my hobbies, they asked me about the Evergrande crisis and its impact on India?
11. Next, How you will contribute to the ISB?
12. Any questions for us?
Overall, the interview was very conversational and revolved around my work-life. For the interview preparation, I took help from the preppie. The team really helped me in providing valuable inputs and organizing my answers. The feedback they provided assisted me a lot in a real-time interview.
Finally, I wish all the best to all ISB aspirants.
4 years ago Nov 19, 2021 11:11
The panel consisted of three alum along with a member from the adcom (who was on mute all throughout and did not participate in the discussion). There were brief introductions from the panel and we jumped right into my profile bypassing the traditional 'Tell us about yourself'.
The interview was conversational with them trying to understand why I would want to do an MBA as opposed to a Masters in Public Policy given my experience in the public sector.
A few questions that tested my knowledge related to government scheme implementation, stubble burning, and farm laws were asked.
Behavioral questions were how I deal with failure, how I define success, and describe myself in one word.
About ISB, they asked what resources I would utilize at ISB, and what 'fun things' I would want to do at ISB.
Overall, the interviewers were very friendly and asked to-the-point questions.
I would also like to give a huge shoutout to Preppie, I took their 2-on-1 mock interview prior to the real thing and the advice they gave me was golden. Highly recommend it to all those who received an ISB admissions invite.
4 years ago Nov 19, 2021 11:11
The panel consisted of three alum along w/ a member from the adcom (who was on mute all throughout and did not participate in the discussion).
The interview began w/ introductions all round the table.
Questions were broadly along 3 categories:
1. How exactly would strategy consulting in the short term help me achieve my long term goal (picked from my essay), how would I make the switch from analytics to strategy consulting, why consulting was the best short term choice amongst other options at ISB and how I decided that ISB was the right choice for me.
2. What all would I want to explore at ISB and how would I go about doing so? Questions here also included a short discussion about my hobbies and how I'd pursue them while at ISB.
3. Scenario based questions as to instances of success/failure in my professional life and my learnings from them. There was one cultural learning question here as well (I worked 6 months in the US, this came up while answering an earlier question)
Overall, the interview seemed chill and lasted ~45 mins. I expected a few questions more targeted towards strategy consulting but that didn't seem to be on the panel's agenda. I did one interview prep session w/ Preppie that helped me focus on very specific areas. My mentor (an ISB alum himself) helped me improve my answers with personalized feedback that helped make a sizeable difference in the way I answered a few questions and in the way I aligned what I'd written in my essay w/ answers to various goals related questions.
Lastly, I wish everyone preparing for their interviews all the best! Just stay calm and put in the work :)
4 years ago Nov 19, 2021 11:11
The interview was with 2 Alums. Both of them were very friendly.
I introduced myself as did they.
Then they started to dig into my profile and application.
- Asked about my essay and the stories.
-My experience at the previous company
-My international experience
-I said I love to bake, had 10 min conversation on how to make Creme Brulee.
-I had written in my app. that I face a lot of challenges in a role: What did I do to overcome those challenges.
-My experience with professional chefs.
-What will I contribute at ISB.
- My Failure and my biggest success
I felt the interview was very chill and conversational. I was expecting a lot of traditional questions, but hardly got any, Duhhh!.
I took two 2-on-1 interviews from Preppie, super helpful and very well organised. I can't say about my final admit, but Preppie really helped me cover all the angles. Let's see, hoping for the best. To people who have received the invite, make sure you go through your application in detail.
Cheers!!

Interview was with 3 Alums. Had a friendly discussion around my profile and fit at ISB.
Questions asked:
1. Started with questions about my goals. Went in detail.
2. Asked in detail about specific examples mentioned in essays.
3. Details about the achievements, extent of my role in team achievements.
4. Asked about my daily responsibilities at work.
5. Asked about a major challenge at work.
4. If there was one thing I could do if I went back in time, what would that be?
6. Questions about fit with ISB.
Overall, it felt like the panel wanted to verify my conviction about my goals. #Shoutout to Strategy4Gmat team for their help in my interview preparation! The mentors (ISB alums themselves) were amazing! Their feedback was very specific and this helped me better portray myself in the interview.
All the best to future applicants reading this.
