Your strong GRE score is a great asset for your application and can help address any worries about your lower GPA. Schools like INSEAD and LBS value international experiences and cultural diversity, so be sure to share any work, travel, or educational experiences that show your adaptability. Since you’ll likely get an interview call from ISB starting in October, be ready to share your unique story and strengths. Good luck

Hi Arnav69
I am Priyanka, Client Manager at ARINGO. Speaking about your profile, a 331 is a very strong score. However, your GPA is on the lower end. Do you have any additional certifications which could help establish your academic performance.
In your 4 years of experience, do you have any leadership roles, promotions? Can you highlight impact? Are there any global projects that lead you to interact with people around the globe?
On the EC side, anything that adds diversity to your profile or catches the eye of the adcoms? Try aligning your goals with the values of the schools you are targeting. Build a strong narrative around your profile.

5+ years private equity Investment experience. CA. 635 GMAT focus. Worked at BIG 4 deals. Before transitioning to a top Buyside firm.

I’m considering an MBA at a top global business school. I got into NYu Stern at NYUAD for its January 2027 start with a 65% academic excellence scholarship. This will give me access to the UAE/MENA region and the top NYU stern brand.

Also I interviewed at LBS. Fingers crossed for scores. I’m looking to continue in finance and up my earnings. My country is currently banned for a US visa hence why considering top mba in other regions. What do you think?

Hey, you are already in a strong spot with the NYUAD admit and scholarship. That said, if your goal is to continue in finance and push for higher earnings, ponder upon how your experience lines up with what these schools and recruiters are looking for.

I have seen a somewhat similar profile in the past, strong overall PE experience, but heavily tilted towards backend work like research and execution support without enough front-end deal exposure. That candidate struggled with some of the top programs like LBS initially. It was only after he moved into a more client facing and transaction heavy investing role and built clearer deal experience that things started to change meaningfully. He converted NYUAD then but chose to stay on in that role for a bit longer to fully capitalise on the trajectory they had built.

In your case, you have already made the move into the buyside, which helps. But you should still ask yourself, how much of your work reflects true investing judgment, deal ownership, and decision making versus support. Are you leading parts of deals, driving investment theses, interacting with management teams, or are you still closer to execution support. That distinction matters a lot more than people think, both for schools and for recruiting outcomes later. On NYUAD, great access to MENA, strong positioning, and a growing network. But it is still more regionally concentrated. LBS, on the other hand, gives you broader access across geographies if you are thinking beyond just one market.

Best wishes

Background

I come from Kalyani, West Bengal, and hold a B.Sc. (Hons) in Agriculture from Lovely Professional University. Beyond academics, I actively led student initiatives as a Class Representative and board member, organizing large-scale cultural and academic events. My early engagement with community service through NSS strengthened my commitment to social impact.

Professional Achievements

Currently, as a Business Development Manager at Qilo Digital Services, I lead a team of 80+ professionals and have driven 30% business growth within six months. I improved client retention by 40% and increased product consumption by 20% through strategic account management and customer-centric solutions.

Previously, at Unacademy, I enhanced course completion rates by 18% and boosted sales conversions through data-driven CRM strategies. My internships across startups enabled me to exceed sales targets (120%), execute nationwide campaigns, and drive measurable user acquisition growth.

Key Achievements

Published multiple research papers in reputed international journals

Led high-impact teams delivering measurable revenue and growth outcomes

Recognized as Best Story Writer by All India Radio, Kolkata

Awarded for leadership contributions at IIT Roorkee’s E-Cell program

Certified in Digital Marketing, Analytics, and Business Management

Career Goals

My short-term goal is to transition into strategy consulting or growth-focused leadership roles, where I can leverage my experience in business development, analytics, and market expansion.

In the long term, I aspire to build scalable, technology-driven business solutions that drive sustainable growth, particularly in emerging markets like India. I aim to bridge strategy with execution—creating high-impact organizations that deliver both economic and social value.

How did you got waiver?

Too many open questions come to my mind based on your post here. Most of my queries may be uncomfortable. Here are a few: why consulting? what do you understand about consulting? why strategy consulting? how does your past connect with your identified future? why would a consulting firm hire you? what examples can you offer to demonstrate the three core skills of a consultant? why did you opt for a waiver when the world of applicants out there takes an exam and provides a crucial data point for their candidacy?.....
Give some of these a thought.

Hi Malik
Priyanka here from ARINGO. Speaking about your profile, your background in public health and energy, paired with a goal to pivot into consulting with a focus on healthcare and social impact, gives you a compelling and mission-driven narrative.

Aim for a strong GRE score to demonstrate academic readiness and boost your chances at your target schools. Your post-MBA goal makes a lot of sense given your experience in public health, but it’ll be important to clearly connect the dots: what kind of consulting (strategy, healthcare-focused, NGO, etc.) are you aiming for, and why now?

Also, some quick questions that would help refine your profile evaluation: What kind of leadership or project ownership have you had in your public health work? Have you had any international exposure or cross-functional work with governments, NGOs, or large institutions? And do you have any ECs or volunteer involvement outside of work?

ARINGO is currently offering free school shortlisting support to 5 lucky applicants. Might be worth applying for personalized guidance as you finalize your MBA strategy!

Hello Malik1998,

Your background in public health projects and interest in consulting roles within healthcare/social impact is a solid, timely fit.

With a 3.3 GPA, you’ll need a GRE score in the 320+ range to remain competitive for your target schools LIKE Fuqua, Goizueta, Kenan-Flagler, Johnson, and Questrom. Clarify your why-MBA story: how the program bridges the gap from your current public-sector work to commercial strategy roles at consulting firms focused on health and social impact.

Once your score is in, lean into consulting-fit essays and target mid-tier programs where your background is differentiated.

Let’s refine your narrative and prep for the GRE.

Nice, with a 330+ you should be able to upgrade the school list or definitely get some scholarships from the previously mentioned schools

"My background is in public health projects, and I’m using the MBA to shift into consulting roles that focus on healthcare and social impact."

that's a nice narrative for career goals as it shows relevance with your past experience. However, the devil will lie in the details. To make a convincing argument, you must address why consulting is the right vehicle for you to make social impact. While seeing essays this year, I am finding that many applicants don't address this bit, leaving scope to make their goals essay more convincing.

Secondly, I would wait for your GMAT score before deciding on the b-school lost. At the moment, I feel you have listed down too many schools with less commonality between them, which makes me wonder about your selection criteria. I would lean in on b-schools that will give you the academic and professional exposure you need to work in healthcare consulting. Duke and UNC become obvious choices, even Kelley is alright, but lets work out the other program choices once you have a GMAT score. Accordingly, you may want to swap a few lower ranked MBA programs for some top 15-20 programs.

All the best for the GMAT and feel free to reach out for further queries.

Hi Namita, Since my scores are in, Ive slightly adjusted my school list, the common thing among these programs would be the scholarship offers, Im trying to target Unis where I can get maximum scholarships. Second common thing is their Healthcare consulting outcomes, Duke, Vanderbilt and Emory are among the top picks.

I have a question please; was your scholarship stated in figures or was it indicated as a full tuition? If yes; what was your total scholarship amount?
I got a scholarship of $149k, but no narration as full tuition. Thank you.

While your tenured experience of 15 years may seem like an outlier to the typical class profile of the 2Y FTMBA programs, I sense that some of them may get interested in you because of your career in AI. A pivot into finance may not hold ground unless you have been already associated with that domain in some shape or form. Tech leadership path is a no-brainer. Some schools may push you towards their 1Y FTMBA program, which may not be a bad option at all, provided you aren't dependent on internships. Do remain open to Stanford's MSx and MIT's Sloan Fellows. Your target test date is too late for catching R1. Your target score should be 705+ to get into the consideration set of schools, even though that is no guarantee because many may have reservations against your 15 years of WE.

Hi
Priyanka here from ARINGO. Speaking about your profile, with 15 years of deep experience in the technology sector, I see a rare blend of technical expertise and innovation. Your current role as a Generative AI Architect positions you at the cutting edge of tech, and your previous experience as a founder adds entrepreneurial depth that adcoms at top schools highly value.

With 15 years of experience, you will need to strongly articulate why now—especially for schools like Harvard, Wharton, and Booth. Your reasoning around career plateau and desire to pivot into finance or broader tech leadership is a good start, but it will be important to clearly show how a second MBA will unlock these goals in a way your current background cannot. Adcoms will want to see not just what you want to learn, but why this environment, at this point. Your ECs look impressive and differentiate you significantly—especially representing the country at the 100 km World Championship.

Have you given a thought on how you’ll position your second MBA to adcoms, especially given the career shift you’re targeting? Also, shift your target score up by about 10-20 points.

Thank you for sharing your profile @TechSocial! Your profile brings a wealth of technical experience, leadership, and maturity. With 15 years of work experience, including roles like Generative AI Architect, Data Science Lead, and Development Manager, you’ve built a powerful foundation in cutting-edge technology. Your early entrepreneurial journey running a tech startup focused on education platforms showcases an innovation mindset, which top business schools value highly. These experiences not only demonstrate depth but also a trajectory of increasing responsibility and vision.

Your extracurricular achievements are remarkable and set you apart. Representing India in the 100 km World Championship signals discipline, resilience, and mental strength, traits that business schools deeply respect. Furthermore, your civic engagement as a founding member of a social impact group in Bengaluru, coupled with a verified social media presence, reflects good community leadership and influence beyond the workplace. This holistic involvement adds color and richness to your MBA candidacy. You might want to take a look at Extracurricular Activities for MBA.

That said, the path to a second MBA will require careful articulation. Admissions committees will need a clear and compelling rationale: What gaps remain from your first integrated MBA? Why is now the right time for a global MBA? And how will this new degree support your pivot into broader tech leadership or finance roles? Addressing these questions with specificity will be critical. Schools will expect you to demonstrate what your first MBA didn’t offer, perhaps international exposure, access to a global network, or more strategic and financial acumen. You might want to take a look at the blog on Is Pursuing a Second MBA Worth It?

Another area to strengthen is your test score. While your target of 695+ is respectable, if possible, aim for 20+ points higher; it would significantly enhance your competitiveness. Additionally, age and experience can be a double-edged sword: while they show depth and readiness for leadership, they may place you outside the typical age bracket for full-time MBAs (usually 5-8 years of experience). Thus, the key is selecting the right programs designed for seasoned professionals.

In terms of program fit, you are best aligned with senior-track MBA or executive formats. Programs like the MIT Sloan Fellows, Stanford MSx, LBS Sloan Master's in Leadership & Strategy, and INSEAD 1-year MBA (if the second MBA rationale is airtight) can be good options. Additionally, explore IMD Switzerland and Oxford’s Executive MBA, which value professional maturity and strategic ambition. For hybrid or U.S.-based options, you might also consider Kellogg, Wharton, or Booth EMBA programs, especially if you're open to modular or weekend formats.

Refine your second MBA narrative, and start exploring recommender options who can credibly speak to your leadership and future potential. Also, reflect deeply on your post-MBA goals, whether you see yourself leading a product vertical, managing a global tech division, or even entering the investment side of tech (VC, corp dev, etc.).

You now need to craft your story strategically, framing your second MBA as a natural next step in your professional evolution. With a strong score, thoughtful school selection, and a personalized narrative, you have every chance to thrive at a globally renowned program. If you'd like, let's chat. Hello,

Your's is one of the most accomplished senior tech profiles I’ve seen

That said, a second MBA from a global top-10 needs a bulletproof rationale. Schools like Sloan Fellows, Wharton EMBA, or LBS Senior Exec programs may offer a better fit and ROI versus traditional two-year MBAs.

Also, a 695 GMAT won’t cut it, you’ll need 730+ even to be considered at HSW, given your age and second MBA ask.

Let’s refine your school strategy and narrative before app deadlines hit.

Hey @adfecere
Congratulations, since you have already interviewed at ISB. Wishing you all the very best for your results ahead.

With your 695 GMAT score, and your roles, including a role with Tata Motors, you could also look at real possibilities of admissions to super selective programs. Your Career Goal also looks well planned.
1. We have no information on how top tier your UG college has been, what percentile your GPA ranks you in.
2. Also, much of the results to applications to super-selective programs would depend on how compelling your overall story comes out to be, what your Extra Curriculars are, and whether you have been able to leverage them to show demonstrated examples of leadership, and such other traits that AdComs of super selective programs like to see in their candidates.

Do feel free to reach out to us for a more detailed, 1-to-1 profile assessment

Hey @MBAaplicant2025,
Seems you have already applied to the MBA programs listed above.
Frankly speaking, your GMAT scores are on the lower side, and admissions to these super selective programs may pose challenges. We also have no information on how top tier your UG college has been, what percentile your GPA ranks you in. Also, much of the results would depend on how compelling your overall story came out to be, what your Extra Curriculars are, and whether you have been able to leverage them to show demonstrated examples of leadership, and such other traits that AdComs of super selective programs like to see in their candidates.

While your WE at McKinsey will prove to be a positive, staying at the Analyst position for 3 years may be a red flag. It is important therefore to project your resume to show accomplishments that show your initiatives beyond your scope of responsibilities.

Do feel free to reach out to us for interview practice/ Ding Analysis/ Application prep for Intake of 2027, or for a more detailed, 1-to-1 profile assessment

Hi
Priyanka here from ARINGO. Speaking about your profile, your profile looks strong on the surface, especially with your Big 4 tech consulting experience and exposure to GenAI transformation work. Your GMAT FE and GPA are both competitive for ISB.

With around 3 years of experience, you are also within the typical ISB experience range. The key for your application will be clearly explaining why you want to move from tech consulting to management/strategy consulting and highlighting leadership and client impact in your projects. Strong essays and recommendations will also play a big role in the final outcome.

If you'd like, feel free to connect for a quick discussion, happy to share more thoughts on strengthening your ISB application.

Professional experience - Chartered Accountant + BComm (First Class) + CFA Level 1 cleared. Working in a boutique front-end investment banking firm for the past ~3 years in a sector agnostic role. A listed entity deal closure on resume along with other deals still in progress where I have led the client management and deal execution. Worked in valuations previously at a CA firm which focused on startups and managed the entire department for a span of ~6 months. Other non-core finance roles before that

Achievements - received Employee of the Quarter award 3 times, promotion

Goals - continue in investment banking in elite boutiques to gain the relevant global experience and deal exposure to return to India to eventually start a fund that invests in startups or established businesses in a specific sub-industry in India on account of gaps observed with a personal emotional+motivational story tied to those goals.

Good GRE score and quals. CFA L1 is not a needle mover. Will be important for you to showcase why you need an MBA when your goals could be a natural outcome of your current career trajectory. A lot will depend on your narratives, as plenty of Indian CAs apply.

Thanks for sharing your profile, @ADCIndia. Let's start with what works in your favor: Front-end investment banking experience, CA + CFA L1 + B.Com (First Class) > good finance signal, deal leadership (client management + execution, not just modeling), listed deal closure > credibility, 333 GRE > competitive for M7/T15 and clear long-term vision (fund formation tied to real industry gaps).

Primary risks: Overrepresentation risk (Indian male + finance), 8 years of experience (upper edge for US 2Y MBAs). Schools will scrutinize why MBA now, not later/EMBA. You are competitive, but execution and positioning will decide whether you land Wharton/Booth/Kellogg vs. T15-only outcomes.

What Adcoms will like: Boutique IB gives more responsibility earlier than bulge brackets, client-facing ownership + execution leadership, sector-agnostic exposure shows versatility, prior valuation experience + department ownership shows early leadership and promotions + awards = validation.

Adcoms don’t care about the number of deals; they care about the decisions you made under pressure, the trade-offs you managed with clients, how you influenced outcomes without authority, and where you failed or had to recalibrate. You should prepare 2–3 flagship stories, a deal that almost fell apart, a tough client/stakeholder situation, and a leadership moment without a title.

Post-MBA goal: Well-formed but needs precision. Your goal is directional, but needs tight sequencing and credible framing. Short term, return to front-end IB at elite global boutiques/focused coverage groups to build cross-border deal exposure. Medium term, transition into investing (growth equity/PE/structured capital) in a specific sector. Long term, launch a sector-focused fund in India addressing a clear, observed gap.

Schools want realism, not ambition alone.

About the schools:
Booth- Finance-heavy, analytical culture, respects non-linear IB paths, and is less obsessed with pedigree than Wharton.

Kellogg- Leadership + teamwork angle helps offset finance crowding, IB outcomes are fine.

Columbia- IB recruiting, your experience fits well. Essays must differentiate you from PE-track candidates.

Wharton is a stretch, but real. Finance-saturated pool. Your GRE helps, but differentiation is key. Clear leadership + long-term India investing angle helps.

Tuck- Values maturity, leadership, and client-facing experience. IB placement is strong for experienced candidates

Yale- Likes governance, impact, long-term mission narratives. Less finance-cloned than Wharton/Booth.

Darden/Fuqua/Johnson- All realistic, good IB pipelines, cultural fit matters (Darden case method, Fuqua team focus).

Stern- IB access, more forgiving on experience band.

You can also explore other schools like INSEAD, LBS, HEC Paris, and IESE.

How to Differentiate: You must answer, “Why you, and not the other 200 Indian bankers with strong scores?”

Questions you should reflect on:
1) What specific gap in Indian capital markets frustrates you?
2) What deal changed how you think about risk or value creation?
3) When did you realize technical excellence wasn’t enough?
4) What kind of leader do clients trust you to be?

We’d love to learn more about your academic background, extracurricular activities, work experience, and personal journey so that we can provide a tailored profile evaluation and an honest school assessment. Feel free to book an evaluation session.

Cheers!

Hi Shantanu,
The 8 years work experience is post bachelors but also includes 2 years of the mandatory internship (Articleship) in the CA course. Unsure how that work experience is categorized by the AdComm.
Regarding extracurriculars, volunteered at beach cleanups to understand how plastic waste is recycled + joined a teaching institute as a visiting faculty to teach investment banking + a short stint of around 6 months of being a member of Toastmasters. Additionally mentored colleagues and juniors in current and prior roles.
Not diving into other points as too descriptive. Would love to know your assessment based on these additional data points if possible.
