IIT UG in Civil Engineering (Top 10% of batch), working in State Oil and Gas (Fortune 500) company in B2B Sales role.
I drive revenue of USD 50MM (converted from INR actual per year). I am already leading a sales team from the start in my area.
Additionally, I have worked in leadership roles in college via Positions of Responsibility.
Also, 2 awards at work in my 2 years of working full time for performance.
I have organized CSR activities end-to-end medical camps, cleanliness drives with government bodies.
I'll be able to score over 740 in GMAT FE, based on trends.
My doubts are:
- Will a PSU experience be valued at M7/INSEAD? And companies post-MBA?
- What can I do to enhance my profile?
- Is the timeline good or I have to wait further?
- Since promotions are time-bound, would it affect the perception?
- Is the post-MBA target good to go? Or any changes needed?

An IIT UG, strong academics, and 4+ years at a Fortune 500 PSU with real P&L ownership and people leadership are all meaningful signals for top schools. To your questions: yes, PSU experience is valued at M7/INSEAD as long as you frame it correctly, AdComs care far more about scale, impact, and leadership than whether the employer is public or private, and your B2B sales + team leadership + awards check those boxes.
On profile enhancement, focus less on adding random certifications and more on sharpening your narrative: clearly show how you’ve driven growth, handled ambiguity, influenced stakeholders, and led change within a structured environment. Your timeline is good, applying with about 4–5 years of experience is perfectly aligned for M7 and INSEAD.
