After 5 years of experience in a Public Sector Bank, I am looking to build a career in consulting post MBA. Will my low gpa affect my chances at these schools. Present Gmat score is 595. Started prep targeting atleast a 645.

HI Arjun,
The GMAT is your biggest unlock right now. If you hit 645+, ISB and IIMs are within reach. IESE/LBS will still be stretches, because of low GPA in past as well. It will raise a few concerns if both GPA and GMAT are below avg. You should really look at GMAT and try to compensate for low GPA..

Hope this helps — feel free to DM if you want a deeper discussion once your GMAT score is finalized!

@S ARJUN ! Your profile seem to have potential, you’ve got some work to do to make your MBA dreams a reality. 5 years in commercial banking? Good. Aiming for consulting? Good choice. But here’s the deal, your GPA (6.56) and current GMAT (595) are low. Prepare well for the retake, you've got this! ISB, LBS, and Oxford play in the big leagues, and even with a 645, breaking in might be tough. The fix? Push that GMAT to 665+ and make sure your essays scream "future consultant" by showing off your problem-solving skills, leadership, and high-impact projects. If you want to maximize your shot at the top schools, score higher, craft a killer narrative, and leave zero doubts about your consulting pivot. You can take a look at this BLOG

Hi S ARJUN
Priyanka here from ARINGO. Speaking about your profile, your GMAT score, and GPA looks like a concern. It is right that you are looking for a retake, however, a 645 will still be on the lower side for LBS and Said. Aim for a score close to 685+. Apart from that, it will be very crucial for you to align your goals with the values of schools that you are targeting. I recommend that you classify your goals into short and long term. Adcoms like to know that you have a clear understanding of your reason to pursue and MBA and how that MBA will help you achieve your career aspirations.

Since your GPA is low, you will have to ensure that all other aspects of your profile are very strong.
