I m a banker, working as a Senior Manager at one of the leading PSB. Handled various portfolios advanting to Priority Sector Lending, MSME Credit, Management of Branch Business as Branch Head, Inspection and Audit, MIS Managemnet and Product development. Has an enriching experience of rural , urban and Metro postings, encompassing 4 states of india. Inculcated strong managerial aspects and developed adaptability to ever expending industry demands.

I want to do MBA because I am working in a bank; with growing technology, the mobile banking, and internet banking application, I believe that the role of a retail banker will be very limited in the future, so, to progress in my career , I want to push myself to management side of the company. To make a change from Finance to Consulting and see myself in Management side, MBA degree will be helpful in this transition
My immediate career objective is to switch from Finance to Consulting. An MBA will help me make this transition. My immediate goal is to work as a Senior Consultant in a consulting firm

Hey Rathann1989,

You have a good profile in the retail banking space, working with PSL and MSME credit will be particularly attractive given their its high impact. Your rationale for pursuing an MBA is spot on, with growing technology the human touchpoints in the banking space will diminish and hence it will be critical to further upskill yourself and think about new avenues where you can explore a good trajectory. The transition to consulting will make sound sense although I would also nudge you to think deeper about exploring careers within new avenues such as Digital Banking, Fintechs, Product Management roles within large tech firms relating to finances such as payments. These roles will enable you to leverage your prior experience in retail banking and hence you should be in a position to negotiate a more senior position in these roles. The choice of schools is spot on particularly on the domestic front. Would recommend that you focus on your GMAT prep and wrap up that up asap so you can focus on a building a robust application.

All the best for the application cycle! Do reach out to us at info@thembaedge.com if you have any further queries.
