undergrad- IIT Kanpur (top institute in india, 1 scholarship, 3yrs in insti dramatics club - 2 awards in national level dramatics competitions, multiple PoRs and leadership Extra-curriculars in 4yrs of undergrad, authored a book which was published by a leading indian publishing company and is available on amazon)
Masters- IIT Madras (top institute in india, academic distinction medal on convocation + 2 other academic excellence awards)
GMAT- 710 (Q50, V35)
Work ex:
7+ years of experience in consulting, strategic forecasting, driving digital transformation and providing innovative analytics solutions for the oncology vertical of a big pharma company with customers based in US, Switzerland and Singapore
(3 promotions in 7 years, currently Senior Manager leading a team of 15 consultants working from client's site)
Target schools: 1-year MBA programs in a preferably english speaking country
Post MBA goals:
Short term: continue in the same sector with a vertical jump in my current role, fill certain gaps in my current skills, use the MBA to change my geography from India to either UK/US,
Long term goals: start my own life science and pharma consulting company approx 8-10 yrs after the mba
You have good academics with solid ECs which should be a strong positive for your profile. Your inclination towards pharma / life sciences will be well received by business schools and hence you should have a decent chance. Only area of improvement would be your GMAT score which maybe at or below median for a lot of the good MBA programs, so try to rework on that if time permits for Round 1 applications.
Just one piece of advices, since pharma is a largely extensively regulated industry within the US, the recruitment typically happen through the internship program which wont be a part of the 1 year MBA formats in the US schools. Thus, if US is on top of your list, I would suggest have a look at some good 2 year MBA options for pursuing a career within the pharma space. UK and EU can be good options with schools like Said, HEC Paris, IMD, Imperial opening doors to pharma companies within the UK/EU region.
