Started my career off in commercial banking as an analyst in Treasury working on fixed income deals and managing a bond portfolio in a frontier market. (1 year)
I moved to a smaller organization to help 60+ SMEs strategize and source funding to grow their businesses. (1.4 years)
Currently the Team Lead (Securities Trading) for an Investment Banking firm, with focus on frontier markets and exposure to developed and emerging markets. (3.5 years)
Post MBA - Asset management role (Blackrock, Vanguard, Fidelity) to learn more about fund management in developed markets and eventually reach my long term goal of setting up a hedge fund back home.
You have a solid GRE score and very good career trajectory. Not sure what's happening with the academics but a 2.76 GPA is below the minimum threshold of 3.0 required for most MBA programs. Incase if you are converting the GPA on a scale of 4.0, please dont do it and leave for the school.
Your career plans align with your prior experience and your school shortlist which is a strong positive. Do remember that AM recruitment for International Students within the US tends to happen on a case by case basis and thus you will face a lot of hurdles convincing your potential employer to hire you. But there have been cases in the past where employers have extended offers to international students with relevant work experience and even sponsored their visas. Just try to keep that fact in mind while working on your application and building your story.
All the best for the upcoming application cycle! Do reach out at info@thembaedge.com if you have any other queries.
