You are young and have a great profile. A few thoughts:
1. are you rushing? Have you hit the ceiling?
2. Do you come off mature and strong in interviews? Someone in their mid 20's may be more mature and more interesting to a consulting company. Someone with only 2 years of work experience (the minimum) is likely to be scrutinized more, offered less interesting positions unless they can really impress in the interview.
3. Would you benefit the most from an MBA? Have you had a good fair share of mistakes and failures? Perhaps - these are the areas that allow you to learn and get the most out of an MBA. If not, there is a good chance you will be disappointed.

I would say you have a great profile and check out across the board in terms of averages/etc. Note that you are recruited based on your past work experience because when a recruiter comes on ISB campus, and they look at 100 ISB grads, they are looking for differences. having a well-known brand, promotions, signs of fast growth can help stand out among the crowd.

The plan is to get a deferral for my MBA so that I can take more risks and explore before going for an MBA. Also I agree I might come off as a bit young but the many of the top Consulting companies hire from B-Schools in India for fresher roles and groom them into the company. Thats my target role for now. Also getting done with an MBA at an early age also has its own set of perks.

Anything I need to do on my score front? Is 665- 685 good enough with my profile?

Sorry, I am not a deep expert on ISB. Do they have a deferral program? If not an official program, counting on deferral is risky but worse case scenario you can reapply.
P.S. I think anything over 665 is good.

ISB's deferred MBA is the YLP program, for which you are no longer eligible (its for college seniors). I didn't get which deferral program are you mentioning here? If you apply to ISB now, you can get admission in the PGP program with 2+ years experience. The b-school does grant deferrals to incoming students, but those are on a case by case basis and typically for just one year. It does not work like the YPL program where you get admission while still in college and can join 2 years later

Hey @Matt Ross,

I am Priyanka, Client Manager at ARINGO. Speaking about your profile, your 4.0 GPA is fantastic and demonstrates a strong academic foundation. With two years of experience on the horizon at a VC firm, that's a solid base to build on. Focusing solely on ISB makes a lot of sense – it's a top program in India, and your profile aligns well with their goals. Acing the GMAT will definitely strengthen your application.

While your experience is a bit on the shorter side, highlighting the skills you've gained at the VC firm – deal evaluation, market analysis, etc. – can showcase your potential for consulting. Your extracurriculars in the consulting club are also a plus.
Since your post-MBA goals are diverse, focus on how your transferable skills and leadership potential can translate across these industries. The travel freelancing is a cool addition, showing initiative.

Applying to ISB is a smart strategy for a quicker turnaround. To really refine how you can position your unique path from VC to consulting, consider sharing your CV and connecting with us for a more detailed profile review.
