I have 4 years of SDE experience at a top Investment banking firm, have received one promotion and couple of awards.

Extracurricular:
- Led a funding campaign during COVID
- teacher at Teach for India for few months
- Developed a website for an NGO
- Won accolades in State and National sports tournaments in college and school

Post MBA goal:
Want to pivot to product management or tech consultant. Long term goal is to be an entrepreneur.

Looking for tech focused schools where getting a scholarship will be achievable based on my profile. Will be Giving GRE again, but want to shortlist 4 schools for R2

Congrats on the profile and hope you have a strong IB brand on your resume - it will help quite a bit with recruiting.
Ideally for scholarships we have been seeing GMAT test takers get offered money and GRE tends to be more barren, at least anecdotally. What we have seen is that candidates with strong profile will get in with an average GRE score. However, we do not see a great GRE helping out candidates with an average profile if this makes sense.

TFI - that's something US Schools know so this will help in your application though most expect years of experience. Either way, having teaching experience will help with a few things including interviewing and potentially also help with edtech recruiting.

Scheller may offer a scholarship but a bit of a question about the others

An Indian male engineer seeking a scholarship needs to offer something significant to a school in order to secure a scholarship. Amongst all the elements in your control, the score is most important. I would encourage you to recalibrate your target to 335+ in the GRE. The chances will decrease if you aim for R2. Hence, unless you are well placed to have the score in hand within the next four weeks, you are VERY late. I am happy to speak if you wish to.

Hello, @zaidh98

Considering your profile with four years of SDE experience at a top investment banking firm, awards, and leadership in extracurriculars like Teach for India and NGO website development, you should target tech-focused MBA programs like MIT Sloan, UC Berkeley Haas, Carnegie Mellon Tepper, UT Austin McCombs, UW Foster, and Georgia Tech Scheller. These schools offer strong tracks in technology, entrepreneurship, and innovation, aligning well with your goals of transitioning to product management or tech consulting with a long-term aim of entrepreneurship. They also provide opportunities for merit-based scholarships, leveraging your professional achievements and extracurricular impact in your application to enhance your chances. Aim for a GRE score of 325+ to strengthen your application further.

Hi @zaidh98

I am Priyanka, Client Manager at ARINGO. Your profile looks good on the surface. An 8.7 GPA is killer and crushing it as a Software Development Engineer at a top investment bank shows you've got serious tech skills. Plus, leading a fundraising campaign during COVID is some impressive leadership and initiative.

Your target schools are all fantastic choices, but ambitious. With a strong GRE score you could be a top scholarship contender too. Focus on how your coding skills translate to product management or tech consulting – those are valuable assets.

Think about schools with strong alumni networks and killer entrepreneurship programs to help you launch your own venture someday. Programs like Haas's Center for Entrepreneurial Studies or McCombs' Zell Lurie Institute sound like a great fit for your goals.

You have a good profile, but with many Indian applicants working as SDEs, what is your differentiating factor? Getting a ~330 /740 (GMAT FE equivalent) is almost a requirement at some of the choices you have mentioned.
On the work front, the devil will lie in the details- how have you added to the business? What products have you rolled out (worked on development) that made trading more profitable/ faster/efficient? Adding these details to the resume will help a great deal and show your business savvy.
The ECAs look alright - again, you would try to show impact and leadership.

I think you've got a good list of b-schools. Haas is most selective from these and I would reconsider applying there, esp if the GRE does not live up to the set expectations. All else looks good. Best of luck for the GRE.
