After 5 year in in-house management consulting for one of the largest insurance companies, i want to obtain an MBA to equip myself with the necessary skills required to take on a leadership role. The MBA will also allow me pivot into sustainability consulting
If you are looking at consulting, consider Darden as well as other mid-tier programs that tend to be more generous with scholarships. I have been told by someone from Nigeria that scholarships are an important part even for a visa application. Which is really annoying. Not sure how accurate that is still but I have heard it multiple times.
You want the best score you can get for a scholarship.
Hopefully there is a strong selection reason why you ended up in Europe.
PS. Bottom line is there are both passive and active benefits to living and working in a different country. INSEAD for example requires that you have international experience or otherwise they don’t really like applicants without any.
All the best

I am Priyanka, Client Manager at ARINGO. Speaking about your profile, having 5+ years under your belt in consulting for a top insurance company is a strong foundation. It's clear you have a vision for your future, aiming for a leadership role and potentially exploring sustainability consulting, a niche with growing importance across industries. While a 3.3 GPA is okayish, a high GRE score will be needed to strengthen your application. Fuqua and Goizueta are also fantastic choices known for their strong consulting programs.
Here's something interesting - did you know that Duke's Fuqua School of Business has a Center for Applied Global Finance? This center focuses on aligning financial decision-making with environmental, social, and governance (ESG) considerations, which perfectly aligns with your interest in sustainability consulting. This could be a great talking point in your application, especially if you have any experience in this area within your current role.
You will need to highlight your leadership potential to pivot towards sustainability consulting in your essays and recommendations. Also HBS has changed its essays format, do have a look at that. - https://gmatclub.com/forum/changes-in-h ... 32120.html

Extracurriculars: I“m a cofounder of a startup that trains and mentors young African women who aspire to be data analysts. (SDG 4 and 5). I am also a member of climate Action Africa, focusing on sensitization and promoting climate adaptation for the worst affected communities in Nigeria (SDG 13). I was co-lead for social impact pro-bono consulting with NGOs at my consultancy
After 5 years of gaining general management skills, i want to go in for my MBA to prepare myself for a leadership role at my company while deepening my expertise in sustainability (energy &environment) and its impact on business.
My passion for sustainability comes from my father who owned a large paper conversion plant and had a tissue making company that eventually went bust for financial reasons. Nevertheless, he thought me the importance of reducing waste (electricity, food, paper, etc) from as early as 5 years old and would take some of my trash paper into his paper conversion company and his voice always stays with me. I saw how much he helped communities and as i forge my own path, i want to help businesses implement more sustainable practices and help reduce waste and inefficiencies within organizations. I also want to help organizations run programs where they give back and support disadvantaged communities.
Some questions.
Does the fact that i aready have a masters in management count against my application?
Do i stand a chance with HBS, GSB?
