I graduated in 2022 from IIT Kharagpur. I currently work as a software engineer for a big tech company. Our software is used by global manufacturers for their day-to-day operations. I wanted to get out of technical heavy role and thus pursue an MBA. In reality, I am neutral about the supply chain and manufacturing industry in general. I am not actively looking to work in it, but I don't think I would hate it either. As of now, in the long term, I would want to work in a strategy/ bizops role for a Tech company. In the short term, definitely consulting as I hope it will allow me to work across diverse industries and could help me find something that deeply interests me.

Hey, @Sandipan Haldar

You've built a strong foundation for applying to a top MBA program. Your GPA and 755 GMAT score are highly impressive, demonstrating both academic excellence and quantitative ability. Your clear goals of transitioning into tech product management and eventually leading a tech company showcase ambition and focus.

While your two years of software engineering experience fall within the typical range for M7 schools, highlighting significant achievements or leadership potential during that time will further strengthen your application.

Since you're aiming high with M7 schools like Harvard and MIT Sloan, consider researching their specific programs and tailoring your application to showcase how your goals align with their strengths. You might even explore taking the GRE if you think you can score even higher, as some M7 schools accept it alongside the GMAT.

Top programs want well-rounded people! Show your teamwork, leadership, and communication skills in your essays and get strong recommendation letters. With focused prep and applications that highlight your strengths, you've got a shot at a top program!

Wow. Crap! That’s a mind blowing score. 😳

You are still young - you would get more value out of the mba if you do it with a bit more experience.

Hey @Sandipan Haldar

I am Priyanka, Client Manager at ARINGO. Speaking about your profile, it looks like you're aiming high with applications to Harvard and MIT. With a 755 FE, you've demonstrated exceptional academic ability. However, 2 years of experience as a software engineer is on the lower end for these schools. You should atleast have around 3-4 years of experience before applying.

Your scores place you very well. Your work experience is however, on the lower side. This also influences the richness of your experience, recommendation letters, etc. It is perhaps best that you aim to apply in R1 of Sep 2025 for Fall 2026 intake. By then you will have four years of experience, which is in the sweet spot for most schools. It will also give you the opportunity to build your profile and credentials further to become a compelling candidate.
