Career Plan: Transition my background in finance into a career in asset management. Short-term goal of getting a job as a investment research analyst and long-term goal of portfolio management.
Education: Double majored Finance & Economics.
Career: 2 years in investor services for a mid-size bank and 4 years in valuation consulting and advisory, working mostly with private equity clients and their portfolio companies. Also I am a CFA charterholder.
Extracurriculars: During university, I held a couple leadership roles in student government and in an honor society, and was a Teaching Assistant for a finance course.
Currently, volunteer for a nonprofit mentoring students in professional development and serve on a committee in my local CFA Society.
Your strong profile makes you a competitive candidate for top-tier business programs particularly in finance and investment. Your impressive GMAT scores together with a high GPA in Finance and Economics demonstrate your readiness academically. Having spent six years in finance, two in investor services and four years in valuation consulting for private equity clients, you have built a solid background that matches well with career goals in asset management.
Meanwhile, being a CFA charterholder adds to your professional credibility, emphasizing your expertise in finance. Additionally, your leadership roles in student government and volunteer work mentoring students are important because they clearly show your dedication towards self-improvement and community involvement. In general, your profile is good for programs focusing on finance, making it an interesting application as you pursue your investment research and portfolio management goals.
Good luck

With the job market right now, much better to be staying within the same field so to speak.
Your GPA is fantastic and is of value to many schools as well - they can beef up their stats with it.
Your GMAT is spot on about the average, and good enough.
I think the biggest deciding factor will be how you stack up with other Finance applicants and how you compare to your peers (e.g. what have you been able to do with your time, career, and resources). I think your experience should be strong enough, hopefully you have some well-known brands you can throw on the resume.
I don't see big weaknesses or glaring items. The key would be to appear knowledgeable and well-researched about the career you are about the pursue so that AdCom sees you as a very serious candidate as opposed to someone dabbling. You also want to attend all the events schools put together, speak to students, and basically get on their radar that way to establish your "reputation" and "engagement credit score" so to speak - the games we have to play
