I am an indian male(22), first generation in my family to go to a college, looking to move up the ladder and get into consulting or IB. Currently working at a small size firm as an analyst.

Was Vice President of the finance club in college and did 2 internships in Finance related fields.
Was also in a rotaract club and participated in meaningful social drives.
Attended a summer school abroad at a prestigious international university for a finance related course.
Can get LOR’s from the heads of the company i am currently working in.

GPA will remain what it is; GMAT could be improved, not because your current 675 is not good but because of your demographic profile (Indian, male). Aim to apply in the R1 cycle when you have at least 4+ years at matriculation. Use this period to build your strengths further - this includes your deliverables / achievements at work, some things that you were engaged in during UG and which you can continue to remain involved in (e.g. rotary club, etc.). The richness of LoRs will obviously depend on the tenure of your experience. e.g. why would I find credibility in an LoR if the work experience is barely 1+ years? Opinions in LoRs are useless; evidence is key. Titles of recommenders do not matter.

I assume you are going to apply in a few years? I would recommend minimum 3 and ideally 5. (Work experience is measured from Aug of the intake year, so that's Aug 2025 for this season)

Hey, Shaaaaaan

Your profile with a GMAT FE score of 675 and a good GPA puts you in a good spot to apply for top MBA programs in consulting. But having 1.3 years of work experience will put you at a disadvantage compared to other applicants with more work experience. To boost your profile, try to get 3-5 years of relevant experience before you apply. This will give you a chance to demonstrate deeper industry knowledge, leadership skills, and a more compelling narrative.

We’d be happy to discuss your profile in more detail to enhance your application’s competitiveness.Feel free to schedule a call with us here for an in-depth profile evaluation and additional benefits. We match you with the students and alums of top B-Schools according to your background and target schools.
