After having worked in banking for 5 years, I would like to gain a cross-industry experience from developed economies via management consulting to set-up my own consulting firm back in Africa in the long-term targeted at serving SMEs to help them address operational inefficiencies and also to improve their creditworthiness with FIs.

hi there, great GMAT score and GPA. Your goals sound alright, but make sure that you can personalize them as many applicants have similar goals like yours and you don't want to sound generic.
Reach out if you need help with the application

Hey @Asante A. ,

With a good GPA of 3.8 and a competitive GRE score of 329, your profile positions you as a great candidate for top MBA programs. Your 5 years of banking experience provide a strong analytical foundation and demonstrate your expertise in finance, which aligns well with your goal of transitioning into management consulting. Your long-term vision to establish a consulting firm focused on supporting African SMEs is compelling, as it highlights both entrepreneurial ambition and a commitment to impactful change. To strengthen your candidacy, you shall highlight leadership roles and measurable impact in your career, such as leading projects or driving operational improvements. Additionally, showcasing involvement in community initiatives or extracurricular activities that align with your goals will make your application stand out. What's going to matter most in your application is how you connect the experiential dots and build a great story to stand out from other applicants in the pool.

If you’d like, we are happy to discuss more about your leadership skills, impact created, challenges faced, awards and achievements and extracurriculars in depth to assess your chances to top B-schools and strengthen your application with impactful stories.

Cheers!

Got ya! You look good. I would suggest reaching out to current students at those schools (folks from Africa will be able to relate) - I know there are quite a few including Nigeria and other locations at those programs. Many will be open to giving a bit of time but you must be considerate and strategic and smart with your questions. Don't ask them baby questions and go for something thought-provoking. You can find them on the school's site or via LinkedIn. most will have a Thanksgiving break and likely bored on Thur/Fri Nov 28/29.
