Your promotion within a year reflects high performance and potential, and your leadership in student-led projects and events adds further credibility. Your GMAT Focus score of 665 is good. Your transition from analytics to business development showcases adaptability, which is valuable for consulting roles, but you must clearly articulate how your skills in data-driven problem-solving and sales enablement align with consulting's demands. Additionally, leveraging your IIT alumni network and demonstrating a consistent narrative around your consulting aspirations will be critical. You can consider targeting schools with strong consulting pipelines and flexibility for mid-tier programs like Tepper and Kelley. What's going to matter most in your application is how you connect the experiential dots and build a great story to stand out from other applicants in the pool.

Priyanka here from ARINGO. Speaking about your profile, your profile looks good on the surface. A 7.8 GPA from IIT Madras coupled with 4 years of work experience in the tech industry looks strong. Plus, your GMAT score falls within the range for your target schools. Are you looking for a retake?

Your promotion within a year and transitioning into business development and focusing on sales enablement, shows your adaptability and drive. Highlighting key features of your profile to the adcoms will help your profile stand out amidst the pool of applicants. Do you think ECs can work your way in? I would also recommend you consider adding Tepper, Foster and Owen to your list. A lot will depend on how clearly you explain your goals and highlight your leadership and problem-solving skills to the adcoms.

There are three fundamental skills a consultant needs (other than an MBA education). Evidence of those skills will largely come from your pre-MBA career. I am not sure if your BD experience will help you much, and you will have to rely on the three years in data analytics. BD brings its advantages too. It will all depend on how you position your candidacy.
