6 years in Energy industry in North America in a technical role. Looking to switch to move to europe within energy industry (move into management, finance, M&A role), feel that MBA will help me gain the required skill set and sort of boost my overall profile. Long term target is to work in investment compay or financial/consulting company with energy focus.
Targeting 675 GMAT FE. Bagpacked last 2 years in SE asia while maintaing full time job remotely (not sure if I should inlcude this in my application essays).
Will likely quit before the application phase and get a part time financial analyst job in my home country (India) with the aim to make the career transition into finance. (Will this hurt my overall profile?)
Priyanka here from ARINGO. Speaking about your profile, I see a decent GPA and when combined with your background in renewables makes your profile interesting. Targeting top European programs with a focus on energy finance looks ambitious, thus you will have to present a very strong profile. Plus, six years of technical experience might have provided you with a solid foundation.
Whether or not to include your backpacking experience is a matter of detailed discussion. It could showcase adaptability and global perspective, but it needs to be framed correctly to avoid appearing as though you were less focused on your career. The part-time financial analyst role in India is a smart move, signaling your commitment to the finance track.
A 675 GMAT FE target is competitive but exceeding it will significantly strengthen your profile further. I would recommend that you highlight some of the key challenges you faced in your technical role, and how did you overcome them.
