I have 8 years of experience in international consumer goods companies. Alicorp, the largest CPG company in Peru, and British American Tobacco, a Fortune 500 company. During my career I have held positions in different functions (trade marketing, marketing and sales), have received several promotions and performance awards, reaching the position of Regional Sales Manager. I have previously led teams, with one of 8 people being the largest I have managed. For the purposes of the applications, my post-MBA goal is to become a Product Manager in a consumer goods company like Nike.
As an additional part of my profile, since I was little I have done social work with my school, continuing with the companies I have worked for. Additionally, until I was 22, I was a prominent athlete participating in South American basketball championships.
I think staying in the same industry and having a strong story helped in the process but that's only a theory.
Round 3 is harder and more limited. At this point you are competing with a bunch of people from the waitlist, so I would not keep your hopes up too high but if you are going to business school this fall one way or another, you may want to apply anyway just so you don’t have any regrets and you get the maximum choices. again it’s usually hard to improve your chances and offers from R2 in R3.
So at this point, we are sort of gambling 😂 and you have to expect as much back as you do from gambling and if you get nothing, it’s OK but maybe there is a chance you hit the jackpot.
I would say on the negative side, they’re not many besides effort, some application fees potentially but most damaging tends to be the waiting in the back of your head and hoping that you will get in somewhere better which will keep you from engaging with your future classmates and will keep you from working on housing and committing to a choice of a business school.
If I was in your shoes and I was definitely going to Business school this fall, I would absolutely apply just so I would not have regrets and what if in the back of my mind but that’s the only reason 💪
PS. Traditionally, Latin America has been under represented. I’ve heard from one of the missions directors that Latin American applicants make the best alumni. They will talk and talk and talk about the program. You can play that app in your application perhaps 🤷♂️
