It is recommended that you consider pushing your HEC/Stern applications to R1.

Hi Priyanka. There's a range of experience of 5 years now. One year at a think tank, two years on public sector consulting as part of the Big 4/5, and now almost two years in Switzerland on microfinance consulting with clients in MENA and Eastern Europe. Undergraduate in Law with an LLM in Human Rights, looking to transition to impact focused PE/Investing

Hi Kashta123
Your experience looks impressive. Your global exposure will also be beneficial for you particularly for INSEAD. One thing to keep in mind is that you are able to demonstrate impact clearly at workplace. Are there any more schools that you wish to add to your school list? Did you prepare a decision matrix while shortlisting schools?

@Kashta123 ! Your international experience in impact consulting and sustainable development gives you a strong, mission-driven edge, especially for schools like INSEAD and HEC Paris, which love globally minded candidates. But let’s talk about the real challenge, breaking into private equity from consulting. PE firms are notorious for favoring candidates with direct deal experience, financial modeling skills, and investment exposure, which means you’ll need to bridge that gap before applying. First and foremost, GMAT is important, a 720+ will make you competitive, especially at finance-heavy schools like Stern and INSEAD. Next, highlight any exposure to due diligence, financial analysis, or investment strategy in your essays, and consider taking CFA Level 1 or financial modeling courses to strengthen your finance credentials. Lastly, timing matters, Stern R4 is risky (late rounds are always tough), so make sure your GMAT and story are rock-solid.

We'd love to learn more about your profile in detail, let’s chat, feel free to book a profile evaluation session.
