Academically, your GPA and your 715 GMAT Focus score seem to place you well among the applicants. It would be more strategic to focus on strengthening your profile holistically through impactful essays, standout extracurriculars, and compelling career vision. Your list of target schools, Harvard, Wharton, Columbia, Booth, Kellogg, and MIT Sloan, is ambitious, but realistic if you bring forth a well-crafted application. Each of these schools values leadership, collaboration, and clarity of purpose, so aligning your experience and goals with each program’s ethos will be key. For example, Kellogg and Ross value team-based leadership, Wharton and Booth appreciate analytical rigor, and MIT Sloan favors applicants who demonstrate innovation and problem-solving depth.
Given your applicant demographic (Indian, male, CPG, consulting pivot), differentiation is crucial. You’ll need to show not only strong professional impact but also personal depth through community engagement, mentoring, nonprofit leadership, or entrepreneurial initiatives. These experiences often tip the scales in favor of an admit. If you haven’t already, it’s worth investing time in developing or highlighting those dimensions of your profile. Strong letters of recommendation from supervisors who can speak to your leadership, growth trajectory, and strategic impact will also significantly strengthen your candidacy.
To round out your school list and increase your odds of success (as well as scholarship potential), you can consider exploring programs like Duke Fuqua, Michigan Ross, Yale SOM, UCLA Anderson, and Dartmouth Tuck. A carefully articulated personal narrative, deep self-reflection, and strong execution across essays and interviews will be key to landing at one of your dream programs. We’d be happy to learn more about your profile and journey to better assess your profile and help further as you refine your school list, craft your story, or prepare for interviews. Please feel free to book a profile evaluation session.

Good Luck!
You’ve got a pedigree wrt IIT Bombay, a high GPA, and recognizable CPG experience.
The GMAT Focus 715 is competitive but still on the edge for M7, given your demographic. Make sure to articulate tightly why consulting post-MBA and how your supply chain/export work connects to it.
NSS leadership is an asset; keep pushing that. Round 1 is the right move. If you can add quantified impact at ITC, especially international work, that’s a win. Add Ross and Duke to balance the list.

You have a solid profile with a strong GMAT Focus score of 715, good 8.9 CGPA @ IIT Bombay, and 4 years of diverse experience in the CPG sector across supply chain functions. Your leadership role with the National Service Scheme adds social impact and initiative.
The transition to consulting post-MBA is logical, especially given your cross-functional exposure and current category management experience at ITC. To strengthen your application, articulate how your CPG experience has built transferable skills for consulting such as problem-solving, stakeholder management, and analytical thinking. Focus on articulating your goals and career transition plan clearly - make sure your goals are specific and well-defined. For example, think about what kind firms and areas/sectors you would want to work in within consulting.
Highlighting your leadership, professional achievements, relevant skills, career goals, unique experiences, and fit with the program effectively will be crucial in crafting a compelling application. To maximize your chances, consider applying to a balanced mix of reach, target, and safety schools.
