After graduating from the prestigious National Theatre School of Canada I had a successful theatre career in Toronto with some time spent Off-Broadway.
I moved to Vancouver for a change of scenery and started working on the world renowned Rocky Mountaineer train as an onboard host and it opened my eyes to the tourism industry.
After four years on the train of sixty hour work weeks, I need to transition to a new career. One that provides opportunity for growth and also transferring my life and educational skills to the next stage of my life.
You bring an unconventional background with theatre and hospitality, which is unique but also risky for MBA/MBAN programs. Your GPA of 3.0 is fine, but you do not yet have a GMAT/GRE score, and for Sauder MBAN, a strong quant performance will be critical to offset your arts-heavy background.
Your story needs to clearly show how you are transitioning from creative industries into data/analytics and why you have the quantitative ability to succeed.
Without that, admissions will doubt your fit for a highly technical program. If you score well on the GMAT/GRE and build a strong narrative around transferable skills (customer engagement, operations, logistics from Rocky Mountaineer), you will be a competitive nontraditional candidate.
