I am from India and I currently work as a management consultant at PwC in Mumbai. My journey so far has been shaped by a strong interest in understanding how businesses function and how financial decisions influence outcomes. This interest led me to pursue Chartered Accountancy, a path that required discipline, patience, and long-term commitment. Clearing all levels of the CA examination in my first attempt was challenging, but it gave me a solid foundation in finance and taught me how to stay consistent under pressure.
While studying and training as a CA, I realized that I did not want my role to be limited to reporting numbers. I wanted to understand the story behind them and be closer to decision-making. This is what attracted me to consulting. At PwC, I work in finance effectiveness and business transformation, where I support clients in improving financial processes, coordinating with stakeholders, and navigating change. Consulting has helped me see how strategy, operations, and finance come together in real business situations.
An important part of my personal growth has been my international exposure. I spent three years studying in Oman, which gave me early experience of living and learning in a multicultural environment. It made me comfortable working with people from different backgrounds and sparked my interest in building a global career. Over time, this interest has turned into a clear goal. After my MBA, I want to work in consulting or finance roles with global firms and build a long-term career outside India or across multiple geographies.
To strengthen my profile and keep my options open, I cleared CFA Level I and am preparing for Level II. I am also exempt from most ACCA papers due to my CA qualification and plan to complete the remaining papers before starting my MBA. Alongside this, I am learning Python and building basic data skills because I believe future business leaders must be comfortable using technology and analytics in decision-making. These steps reflect how I approach my career. I value flexibility and want to be prepared for both consulting and finance leadership roles.
However, I also recognize that professional growth cannot come only from certifications and work experience. I want structured leadership development, exposure to global recruiting markets, and the opportunity to learn from peers with diverse experiences. An MBA will help me develop these areas. It will allow me to move beyond functional roles and prepare me to take on broader responsibilities in the future.
I am planning to apply for an MBA in 2027 because I want to enter the program with enough experience and maturity to make the most of it. I am not looking for a quick transition, but for a meaningful learning experience that will shape the next phase of my life. I want to spend important years of my career abroad, learning, working, and building relationships that last beyond the classroom.
Looking back, my journey has been about building a strong foundation step by step. Looking ahead, an MBA is the next logical step to bring together my background in finance, my experience in consulting, and my aspiration to build a global career.
