can someone please do a profile evaluation for me -

GMAT - 655 (Q88 , V85, DI75) -Q and V are fine, but messed up DI real bad with only 47 percentile

10th - 93.50 %, 12th - 90.60%

UG: 7.0 GPA (Tier-1 Engg College) ( Planning to do MBA math to offset this)

Have 4 years of work ex in software development in a Product Based Company

Additional stuff -
-received 2 promotions in 4 years , got a certificate for being amongst the best mentors in the company
-cleared CFA L1 in first attempt
- helped local hospitals during COVID by getting them necessary chemicals which helped them in maintenance of proper hygiene - have certificates from each of them
-volunteering exp at various NGOs (mostly related to child education and welfare) - received LOR from one of them for being one of the highest fundraisers in a fundraising campaign

Really not sure if I need to give the GMAT again before R2 or not - any advice will be helpful

Hi
Priyanka here from ARINGO. Speaking about your profile, I see strong academics from a Tier 1 engineering college, solid quant foundation, and solid work experience with promotions and recognition in a product-based tech firm.

Your ECs and community work really help round out your story, especially the COVID initiative and NGO involvement. The 655 GMAT score also looks decent. With strong essays and recommendations, you will be in a strong spot.

I’d be happy to offer you a free profile review for your target programs to see where you stand and how to boost your chances, happy to help!
No pressure, no strings - just helpful insights on where you stand and how you can strengthen your chances.

Hi There, nice profile but also one of the more common one for an Indian applicant. But that doesn't mean much, only that you apply with very strong applications that bring out your strengths, differentiators and the value that you will add to the b-schools where you are applying.
Coming to your profile eval- 655 is a decent score but you can increase it. Your college GPA is average and the MBA Math won't help much; its more of a tick box than a profile enhancer. I'd suggest that you retake the GMAT instead. It will be more hardwork but also more fruitful.
Your school grades will only be asked at ISB and not at the other MBA programs.
My assumption is that your goal is product management. If thats the case, maybe you could also look at your b-school list and rejig a few targets. Both Darden and Duke will have their third deadlines (I know they are called round 2) so they would have accepted many similar profiles by their Jan round already. Instead you could look at some other b-schools like Ross, Tepper, UCLA(needs TOEFL), UNC Kenan Flagler. McCombs and Foster that will still help you achieve the same career outcomes.

Would be happy to chat and know more about you, esp the work experience details.

Hi @7keletor,
You have a solid overall profile with strong academics (consistent 90%+ in school, engineering from a Tier-1 college) and steady career progression—two promotions in four years at a product-based tech firm reflect solid performance and leadership. Your CFA Level 1 and volunteering/fundraising work add valuable dimensions and credibility for a pivot to finance. The main weakness is the 655 GMAT Focus, specifically the low DI percentile, which could raise a red flag for top investment banking-focused programs where analytical rigor is critical. Since your quant and verbal are strong, a retake targeting 685+ could improve your competitiveness and help offset the 7.0 GPA. Doing MBA Math is a good step, but if you have time before R2, retaking the GMAT may be worth it.
Highlighting your leadership, professional achievements/tangible impact, relevant skills, career goals, unique experiences, and fit with the program effectively will be crucial in crafting a compelling application. To maximize your chances, consider applying to a balanced mix of reach, target, and safety schools.

@7keletor - please see if you can improve your GMAT score - this would also help offset the GPA. Aiming for a 675+ would be ideal, considering your target programs.

The rest of the profile looks alright - make sure you also have a strong narrative covering your experiences, post-MBA career goals, and how/ why the MBA is the right next step at this juncture.
