I’m a 8+ year Senior Frontend Engineer currently working at National Australia Bank (NAB) in India, where I contribute to large-scale trading and internet banking platforms and also lead the team. Prior to NAB, I worked at Newgen Software leading frontend development for insurance and banking products.
Alongside my corporate experience, I’ve built and run side ventures including an AI-based stock analysis platform (MagicStocks.ai) and a D2C e-commerce brand (Slick Stiles) generating multi-million INR revenue. I hold a B.Tech in Computer Science and am targeting INSEAD January 2027 intake (R1).
1. Entrepreneurial experience- Very valuable for INSEAD. Running an AI product and a D2C brand with real revenue. This shows a builder mindset, which INSEAD values highly.
2. Tech + Finance + Business Angle- Your work sits at the intersection of fintech, banking platforms, AI product building, and entrepreneurship. This creates a consulting-ready narrative.
3. Leadership Trajectory- You are not just an engineer. You lead teams, build products, and run ventures. This signals managerial readiness.
GMAT score of 695 FE is good. The big question is Aug R4 vs Jan R1.
This is where strategy matters.
Applying R4 (August intake) reality- By Round 4, 70–80% of seats are filled, the Indian engineering bucket is nearly full, and adcom priority becomes diversity balancing/waitlist management. Risk level is very high. Even strong profiles get rejected simply because of class composition constraints.
Advantages of applying in January intake, Round 1- Full seat availability, scholarship pool available, Indian applicant pool spread out, and the adcom is less restrictive. There's a probability improvement, and your chances can increase by 10–15%.
You can also explore HEC Paris, IESE, NUS, or HKUST.
Questions:
1) What revenue did the D2C brand generate?
2) How many users are on the AI platform?
3) Did you raise any funding or bootstrap?
4) How large is the team you lead at NAB?
5) Any international exposure in your projects?
We’d love to learn more about your academic background, extracurricular activities, work experience, and personal journey so that we can provide a tailored profile evaluation and an honest school assessment. Feel free to book an evaluation session.
Cheers!

You are quite competitive for INSEAD and so I would suggest you apply in a round where you can maximize your chances of admission. The July '26 intake is too far in the admission process and you will have only a few seats available to you. so I recommend that you shoot for July 27 intake or apply for the Jan 27 intake (the second deadline of this intake would be on 22 April 27, which is doable). In this intake, you will also have access to an internship.
Other than that, what is your GMAT score- 645 or 695? (you have mentioned both numbers and one is possibly a typo error).
Your entrepreneurial ventures look very appealing. In addition, your work with NAB, if that involves interactions with a global team could help you meet INSEAD's international orientation criteria ( It will be important to not just list the experience, but show how you grew because of that experience).
For the goals, its difficult to comment on the path tech>> consulting without knowing more about your rationale and exactly what you wish to do post MBA. It will be critical to have clear cut, achievable career goals.

Priyanka here from ARINGO. Speaking about your profile, you have an interesting profile with 7+ years of tech experience, leadership responsibility, and entrepreneurial exposure, which are all things that schools like INSEAD tend to value. Your work at National Australia Bank on large-scale banking and trading platforms, combined with leading teams and building side ventures and a D2C e-commerce brand, shows both technical depth and entrepreneurial mindset.
A 695 GMAT FE is a solid score and should keep you competitive for INSEAD, especially when paired with your GPA and strong work experience. Regarding R4 vs R1, I would recommend that you target R1 Jan intake.
AdComs at INSEAD usually look for a few qualities in applicants:
1. Strong leadership potential and career progression
2. International outlook or global mindset
3. Ability to contribute to a diverse classroom environment
4. Clear career goals and strong “why INSEAD” fit
5. Evidence of impact, not just responsibility
Your entrepreneurial initiatives and leadership at work can help demonstrate these traits well if positioned correctly in the application. Are you also open to other European Schools?
