Thanks for sharing your profile, @Timshel1234. Great 685 GMAT FE score. Given your score, 5 years in consulting across the US and UK, a clear pivot within consulting (implementation → strategic FS), LBS can be a high-probability target and realistic if you execute your application well. Your GMAT comfortably offsets the slightly modest GPA. Strengths that you can lean into, stats & brand signals, GMAT FE, and an engineering degree from a good US school → shows quant rigor, international consulting exposure, 3 years in the US + 2 in the UK = exactly the kind of global profile LBS likes. Clear, credible goal, you’re not jumping industries wildly, you’re deepening focus:
tech implementation → strategic financial services consulting at Big 4. FS adjacency, if any of your current projects involve banks, insurers, payments, capital markets, etc., highlight that to show the bridge is already forming.

Areas to look upon: GPA 3.28, use the optional essay only if needed to briefly explain any dips and highlight stronger later semesters / quant-heavy courses. Implementation-heavy narrative, you must show you’re not “just a tech implementer.” Emphasize any involvement in shaping the solution, business case, process redesign, or operating model, not just configuring systems. Times when you were in a discussion with senior stakeholders about trade-offs, value, timelines, and risk.

You can also take a look at other schools such as Oxford Saïd, Judge, HEC Paris, or IESE.

Strategy for “Why LBS?” London FS ecosystem, access to Big 4 + FS advisory teams, electives, clubs: Consulting Club, Finance Club, regional clubs. “Why MBA, why now?” You’ve hit a ceiling in implementation; you want to broaden from tech execution → strategy, operating model, and value creation. move into FS vertical, not just generic tech

Leadership & impact stories: Owning workstreams, stakeholder management, and trusted advisor moments, not just order-taker behavior.

To level up before applying, you can try to seek a “strategic” angle in current projects. Can you volunteer to help define KPIs, business case, roadmap, or change-management strategy? Network with LBS alums in Big 4 FS consulting. It'll give you material for “Why LBS + Why FS consulting” and realistic expectations for recruiting. Clarify target geography, likely UK/Europe FS consulting, and be explicit about this in your goals.

Recently, most of the LBS applicants who've worked with Shantanu(INSEAD Alumnus, Founder and Admissions Consultant, MBA and Beyond) received Interview Invitations. So, if you'd like to have a chat. Please feel free to book a session.

Hey
Priyanka here from ARINGO. Speaking about your profile, your 5 years in tech consulting across both the US and UK gives you strong international exposure, which LBS values a lot. The 685 GMAT FE is solid for LBS, though your 3.28 GPA is on the lower side, so make sure your essays highlight academic readiness through certifications, quant-heavy work and strong recommendations.

Your pivot from implementation consulting to strategic FS consulting is believable, especially since LBS places well into Big 4 strategy practices and FS consulting roles in London. What will matter most is showing leadership depth, impact on client outcomes, and why LBS specifically fits your move into FS strategy.

I’d be happy to offer you a free profile review for your target programs to see where you stand and how to boost your chances, happy to help!
