I think the answer to this question is E
Here is my reasoning for the same
From statement 1, we don’t know as to what is the exact positioning of N, there are a number of options which are possible, therefore statement 1 is insufficient

From statement 2, we only come to know that x coordinate of N is 12 but what is the Y coordinate hence insufficient

Both statements put together don’t help

I believe the answer to be C.

1) alone is clearly insuff.

2) y can be either positive or negative

Together, since N lies on the circumference, for x=12 there will be only one y in first quadrant.

i dont understand this statement

well equation of circle with center at orifin and radius r is \(x^2\)+\(y^2\)=\(r^2\)----(1)

from 1) point is in first quadrant(insuff)

from 2)x co ordinate of the number is 12
substitute in (1)
we can get value of y co ordinate but it can be positive or negative
combining we get the ans

Anytime u see the ratios 3,4,5 5,12,13 on a gmat, a right triangle should come to mind.

so a point (-12,-5) will be 13 away from the origin, making this point on the circumference

now lets look at the statements

1) not enough info,
2)point could be (12,-5) or (12,5) insuff.

1)2) enough info, point is (12,5) so length must be radius = 13

Answer is C.

Since we know the radius is 13. At X=12. We should beable to know where the Y coordinate is. Since we know its in the first quadrant.

We know the distance.
