(B) Every early-twentieth-century political philosopher who did not advocate a totalitarian state was influenced by Rosa Luxemburg.

(C) Rosa Luxemburg was the only person to influence every early-twentieth-century political philosopher who was either socialist or communist.

(D) Every early-twentieth-century political philosopher who was influenced by Rosa Luxemburg and was not a socialist was a communist.

My answer is A...since every early-20th century socialist political philosopher was influenced by Rosa Luxemberg, none of them cound have advocated a totalitarian state.

IMHO...To counter option D....its not stated that only socialist and communist philosophers were influenced by Rosa Luxemberg

A for me.

Every political philosopher of the early twentieth century who was either a socialist or a communist was influenced by Rosa Luxemburg.

It is not D becos as per the qn stem a political photographer may be a XYZ or a ABC and still be influenced by Rosa. What the qn stem states is every political philo who was a socialist or a communist was influenced by Rosa

I'm confused between A & B. I understand why A is the answer but i don't have reasons to eliminate choice B.

Please help.

The problem with B is the scope of the claim. In our initial premise, we were told that socialist and communist political philosophers were influenced by Rosa, and in turn did not support totalitarianism. We know nothing about other political philosophers of the twentieth century, only about two subsets: socialists and communists.

There may have been other kinds of political philosophers in the twentieth century, and it is possible that some of them also did not support totalitarianism, and were not influenced by Rosa. Even if you can't name any other type of political philosopher, you must eliminate B by recognizing that it makes a claim that isn't directly supported by the passage.

Simply put, we have to eliminate B because its scope is too broad and it is not directly supported by the passage.

It means all the philosophers were influenced by Rosa Luxemberg.(100%)

No one, who was influenced by Rosa Luxemburg advocated a totalitarian state.

Since every one is influenced by Rosa , there is none who will advocate a totalitarian state

For all the people confused with D

All soc. and comm. influenced by Rosa.

But says nothing about other people who were influenced by Rosa. There could be anarchists ( just giving an example) who were influenced by Rosa but who were not either socialists or communists.
