Hi,
I'm very new to this forum, so apologize me if I posted this at wrong place.
In Manhattan 1St strategy guide, 5 th edition pg no:99, 3rd question.
Lispa spends 3/8 of her monthly paycheck on rent and 5/12 on food.Her room mate,carrie, who earns twice as much as Lisa, spends 1/4 of her monthly pay check on rent and 1/2 on food. if the two women decide to donate the remainder of their money to charity each month, wat fraction of their combined monthly income will they donate?
I got the answer as 33/72, but 17/72 is given in book.
my intrepretation is as follows
balance of lispa salary is 5/24 and carrie's is 12/48. If I do cross multiplication while adding, my answer is 33/72. could any tell me where I had gone wrong?
