Please help! I am going to take GMAT in September and want to apply to ISB round 2.
Though I am improving in SC and RC but my CR is pathetic. And coz of my poor CR result I am feeling very discouraged. I don’t know why I am finding OG CR way too complicated.

Is the reason could be this that I haven’t studied any book like power score CR or Manhattan CR? Though I have rough idea about what is a Premise , counter premise , assumption, conclusion , keywords etc.

Do only I am finding OG CR tough or is it common for many to find it difficult ?

Hi emarkgmat,

I'd high;y recommend to get a textbook. Or, you can read the notes:

Hope this helps!

If CR is difficult for you - try to change your approach - see how someone else views that same question.

I would not recommend reading a book about how to better read a paragraph.

CR and RC are skills that can only be shown/demonstrated - not told.

How you think through a question dictates how much time you will spend on different parts of a question stem and corresponding answer choices. This is the key for time management -- minimize the time you spend on parts of the question that don't matter!

Take a look at this video - see if it makes sense to you:

I would recommend picking up a MGMAT book on CR and reading through it at least 3 times. It will help a lot.

CR reflects how you approach the question and the way you thought about it. How about you have a study peer to show you how they think whenever they meet a CR question. You might discover what is different from your friend's opinion and gradually adjust your logical method of thinking.

Start with Foundations of GMAT Verbal. You can purchase it here: https://www.amazon.com/Foundations-GMAT ... 1937707016

It has several chapters that will walk you through the basics of how an argument is put together and what the different terms mean. Terms like 'assumption' have very specific meanings on the GMAT that aren't always obvious and aren't really taught in school - if you know exactly what the GMAT means by those terms you'll have an advantage.
