Let 'n' be the total nos. of residents in the town.
Given, number of men residents=40% of n=0.4n
Given, number of men residents over the age 60=15% of number of men residents=0.15*0.4n=0.06n

P(resident selected is a man over 60 age)=$$\frac{Number-of-men-residents-over the age-60}{Total-nos.-of-residents-in-the-town}$$=$$\frac{0.06n}{n}$$=0.06

Let # of residents of town T = 100

(1) # of men? 40% of 100 residents are men
-- There are 40 men

(2) # of men in T who are over age 60? 15 percent of "those" [40] men are over age 60:
$$.15(40)=6$$
There are 6 men in Town T over age 60

(3) Probability? Probability that a random resident is a man [and] over the age of 60?
Favorable = $$6$$ (man and over 60)
Possible = $$100$$ (residents)
$$P=\frac{Favorable}{Possible}=\frac{6}{100}=0.06$$

Favorable outcome = 0.40 * 0.15 * n = 0.06 * n
Possible outcome = n

Probability = Favorable outcome / Possible outcome = 0.06 * n / n = 0.06

Hence, B.

6 men above 60.
So probable/ total = 6/100 = 0.06
