Hi There,

I gave my first official practice test on 1st August and Scored 540 (Q44, V22) and after studying for 6 weeks I gave Mock yesterday and had massive setback, scored 420 (Q48, V6).

In the first test I scored less in Verbal for two reason I was not sure of any SC answer and my reading speed was very slow in RC. This time I had better understanding of Verbal, my accuracy improved but my speed reduced to Avg. 4 min/question.

How do I improve my speed without loosing accuracy?
I am practicing 60 -70 OG Question from GMAT club only.

Please advice!!

its not clear what preparation course / books have you been using? review the tests and also understand why you choose the wrong option over correct one.. see experts reply of the question this will assist you improve score.

Wow. V6 is the LOWEST score, and you can sometimes do better guessing.
That's the lowest possible score. I have a feeling you may have run out of time? or something is up with this test. That's all I can suggest based on the information.

Hi VivekS94,

Many GMATers face pacing issues in the Quant section, the Verbal section or both – so you are not alone. However, it's important to remember that pacing problems do NOT exist on their own - they're the results of OTHER problems. Most GMAT questions are written so that they can be approached in more than one way - so if your pacing issues are as severe as you say, then there are likely some significant 'inefficiencies' in terms of how you are approaching Verbal questions. Thankfully, the Verbal section of the GMAT is as consistent and predictable as the Quant section is, so you CAN train to score at a higher level.

Before I can offer you the specific advice that you’re looking for, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

Studies:
1) How long have you studied in total? How many hours do you typically study each week?
2) What study materials have you used so far?
3) Have you taken any other CATs/mocks besides the two that you listed?
4) On this most recent CAT, in the Verbal section did you run out of time and leave any questions unanswered?

Goals:
5) What is your overall goal score?
6) When are you planning to apply to Business School and what Schools are you planning to apply to?
