small size: area= 0.5*s*h
big size : area = 0.5*S*H

and s/S = h/H

0.5*S*H = 2( small) = 2 (0.5*s*h)
= s*h
S= (s*h)/( 0.5*H)
= 2*s*(h/H) = 2*s*(s/S)

S^2 = 2*s^2
S = sqrt(2)*s


Well explained....

If we see the small triangle the base "s" is actually a parallel line to "S".

Taking similarity of triangles we get this result...Since angles are the same

Clearly triangles 1 and 2 are similar.

Let the height of triangle 1 be h and height of triangle 2 be H

Now since the triangles are similar....... sides are proportional

h/H = s/S

Area of traingle2 = 2* Area of triangle1

1/2 * H * S = 2* 1/2 * h* s
S = 2 * h/H *s
S = 2* s/S * s
S^2 = 2 s^2
S = (2)^1/2 * s
