--- It sounds like there is [African land symbolizing the ..freedom..]
C. that some Blacks return to Africa which was the land which symbolized the possibility of freedom to him

D. some Blacks returning to Africa which was the land that to him symbolized the possibility of freedom
that missing
freedom to him, Africa
that missing

A looks good.

All other options either distorts the meaning or looks awkard.

advocated that .... return ----------- this is subjunctive ( isn't it ?)
since this is subjunctive we need "that.... return" in our answer choices. This helps us in eliminating choices D and E

B -> i think the word "Symbolizing" destroys the parallelism here

c -> redundant, wordy -> "which was the land which"

A seems right... OA pls

A is correct. In B sounds like African land simbolizing freedom, not the action of some Blacks. In C we have "which", and in GMAT we need a coma before "which". In D and E "that" is missing and i think that we have a subjonctive (that...return), so we need "that".
