Solution

Given:
• Two cities are there – A and B

To find:
• The distance between the cities A and B

Approach and Working:

Analysing Statement 1
• As per the information given in Statement 1, traveling at 270 kmph, a flight takes \(\frac{20}{3}\) hours to reach city B from city A
    o Therefore, the distance from A to B = speed * time = 270 * \(\frac{20}{3}\) km = 1800 km
• From this Statement we can find out the distance between A and B
o Therefore, Statement 1 alone is sufficient to answer

Analysing Statement 2
• As per the information given in Statement 2, traveling at 300 kmph takes 40 minutes or\(\frac{2}{3}\)hrs less than traveling at 270 kmph
• Therefore, time taken while traveling at 270 kmph – time taken while traveling at 300 kmph = \(\frac{2}{3}\) hrs
• Or, \(\frac{distance}{270}\) – \(\frac{distance}{300}\) = \(\frac{2}{3}\)
• Solving, distance = 1800 km
• From this Statement also, we can find out the distance between A and B
o Therefore, Statement 2 alone is sufficient to answer
Hence, the correct answer is Option D

Answer: D

I) distance=speed* time
=270*20/3

Sufficient

II)let x be total number of minutes

300(x-40)=270x
Find x and convert to hour by dividing by 60
Sufficient

D is answer
