What the Q asks us is-- What are the factors of 290.

290 can immediately be written as 29*10, where 29 is a prime number..
290 = 2*5*29..
number of factors = (1+1) (1+1) (1+1) = 8

2 step process -

1. Factorize the number into prime factors

290 = 2^1*5 ^1* 29^1

2. Use formula for no of factors (a+1)(b+1)(c+1)

=> (1+1) (1+1) (1+1)

=>2^3 = 8

So, answer is C :lol:

I too struggled to understand the question....but I looked at answer choices and it can't answer for anything but the number of factors...
i did prime factorization, as other people explained above.
290=2*5*29 = total number of factors = 8.
