Simplified in this way:

\(2 = 1 + \frac{2}{y}\)

\(\frac{2}{y} = 1\);

So y = 2

Answer = D

For \(\frac{2}{1+\frac{2}{y}}\) to equal 1, \(1+\frac{2}{y}\) should equal 2.
Therefore, \(1+\frac{2}{y} = 2\) --> \(\frac{2}{y} = 1\) --> \(y = 2\) ---> \(\frac{2}{1+\frac{2}{2}}=1\)

The difficulty level of the question is sub-600 as shown by the tag right above the question timer.

FYI, asking for a question level is not going to help you. Try to understand what is required to be done in a particular question.

\(\frac{2}{1+\frac{2}{y}}=1\)
2 = 1 + 2/y
1 = 2/y
y = 2

We need to simplify the equation 2/(1 + 2/y) = 1. We can start by multiplying both sides of the equation by 1 + 2/y and we have:

2 = 1 + 2/y

1 = 2/y

y = 2

The answer is D.

2 divided by "something" equals "1". The only value in which 2 is divided by some value and is equal to "1" is when 2 is divided by itself. I wish I had this question on the exam! I think GMAT is also testing the prime number rules...."A Prime Number can be divided evenly only by 1, or itself."

If \(\frac{2}{1+\frac{2}{y}}=1\), then y =

\(\frac{2}{1+\frac{2}{y}}=1\)
\(2 = 1 + \frac{2}{y}\)
\(\frac{2}{y} = 1\)
y =2
