The best approach for me in such situations is drawing a table. So in one axes we have two groups 30- and 30+ in another axes we have gender M vs W. ! statement tels us that half of the women are 30- which is equal to 25% out of all employees - not sufficient, second statement tells us that 35% of employees are 30- , we still don't know how much percent is 35% out of all men. Combining both statements we see that 35% out of 50% is 70%. Answer is C.

If 25% of a company's employees are women older than 30, what percent of the men employees are 30 or younger?

(1) Half of the women employees are 30 or younger.
(2) 35% of the company's employees are men of 30 or younger.

Clearly, each statement alone is insufficient
Combining the two and using the data from the question

25% of company employees = women older than 30
No of women less than or equal to 30 = 50% of women. So 50% of women are more than 30 = 25% of company employees.
So total women employees = 50%

No. of men employees = 50%. 35% of which are equal or younger than 30. So 15% are older than 30.

I think the answer to this question is incorrect in the tests.
I think it E but its given as C. Can somebody help ?

Required, x/m * 100 = ?

1)

W/M...... >30.............<=30
W............25...........0.5(100-m).............(100-m)
M..............b..................x.........................m
..............................................................100

Implies 25 = 0.5(100-m) Or m = 50 & (100-m) = 50

Table becomes as below

W/M.......>30............<=30
W............25................50.................50
M................................x...................50
......................................................100

No info of x, hence insuff.


2)

W/M.......>30..............<=30
W............25............0.5(100-m)............(100-m)
M...............................x = 35....................m
..............................................................100

But no info about about m, hence insuff.

Together (1 & 2), m = 50, x = 35

W/M.......>30...........<=30
W............25...............50...................50
M...............................35...................50
.......................................................100

35/50 * 100 = 70%
Answer: C

Question asks: % of men employees below 30 years or equal to 30 years

Statement II: 35% of the company's employees are men of 30 years or younger.

So, statement 2 answers what is asked in the question isn't it?
