If $$3w + 2y = x$$, then what is the value of y?

(1) $$6w + 6 = 2x$$

(2) $$9w = 3x - 9$$

1. From the question stem 3w + 2y = x -> (1)
6w + 6 = 2x -> (2)

When we multiply the first equation by 2, we get 6w + 4y = 2x -> (3)

Comparing equation (2) and (3), we get y = 1.5 (Sufficient)

2. 9w = 3x - 9
Rewriting the eqaution, we get 9w + 9 = 3x -> (1)
From the question stem 3w + 2y = x -> (2)

When we multiply the second equation by 3, we get 9w + 6y = 3x -> (3)

Comparing equation (1) and (3), we get y = 1.5 (Sufficient - Option D)
