If a grocery shopper received $0.25 off the original price of a certain product by using a coupon, what was the original price of the product?

(2) The original price was 25 percent higher than the price the shopper paid by using the coupon.
Option (1) $0.25 is equivalent to 20% discount; Original price (x) is equivalent to 0.25/20% --> 1.25
Option (1) is therefore sufficient
Option (2) If original price is x, and paid price is y. As per Option (2) x = 1.25 y; whereas y = x - 0.25, therefore, x = 1.25 (x-0.25)--> x = 1.25x - 0.3125 --> 0.25 x = 0.3125 -> x = 1.25
Option (2) is therefore sufficient
D is the answer!
