If k is a positive integer and n=7.049*10^k, what is the value of k?

(1) 7,500 < n < 75,000

(2) 10^4<n<10^5

Guys my approach

a) 1<n<10
1< 7.049 * 10^k<10
10^k=10^0 = 1(now my concern here is when it is mentioned that k is a positive integer it can be zero also)
1<7<10
Sufficient
b) 1<n<10
same put value of n you ill get k=0

if-n-is-a-positive-integer-and-k-5-1-x-10-n-what-is-the-114026.html

according to Karishma in the above post if k is positive integer, it is at least 1.

Pls clarify the correct interpretation of k is positive integer

Stem explicitly says that "k is a positive integer", so k>0 (notice that zero is neither positive nor negative).

If k is a positive integer and n=7.049*10^k, what is the value of k?

Since k is a positive integer then n can be:
70.49, for k=1;
704.9, for k=2;
7049, for k=3;
70490, for k=4;
...

(1) 7,500 < n < 75,000 --> there is only one such number in this range: 70,490. Sufficient.

(2) 10^4<n<10^5 --> 10,000<n<100,000, again there is only one such number in this range: 70,490. Sufficient.

Answer: D.
