Ken and Sam work at an hourly rate of 4/5 and 4/7 respectively.
together they work at a rate of 28/35+20/35 = 48/35
When working together for 1,75h (7/4 h) they can fill 84/35 buckets (remember to Keep the Terms low when multiplying the fractions) as we can see C being 2,4 is the only number close to our calculationk, no need to calculate further.

I would use some approximation here:
If Ken can mine 4 buckets of gold in 5 hours - that's less than 1 bucket an hour. It is 0.8 bucket
and Sam can mine 4 buckets of gold in 7 hours, - that's a bit more than half a bucket an hour so about 0.6 bucket an hour
This means, they mine about 1.4 buckets every hour.
how many buckets of gold can they mine if they work together for 1.75 hours - they work for a bit less than 2 hrs so work done would be a bit less than 2.8 buckets. Answer must be 2.4.
