If one of the sides of the rectangle shown in the figure has a length of 3, then the area of the rectangle is

(A) 9
(B) 13.5
(C) 18
(D) 27
(E) 54

Given if one of the sides is x, other side is x+6
Also, given that one of the sides in the rectangle is 3,
the other side has to be 9.
The larger of the sides cannot be 3 because the smaller side will be -3, which isn't possible.

Hence, Area of rectangle = Length*Breadth = 3*9 = 27(Option D)
