What kind of question is this? It is asking for the value of X that is not possible. While all the first 4 choices can be the value of X and in fact X can have any value, then how the question is asking for impossble value of X?

the correct ans is E.
because |a-b| = |b-a|, |x-1| = |1-x| => |x-1|= |x-1|. Hence, x can be any number.

The question should have been worded as "which of the following CAN be the value of X?"

or

In its existing form, one of the possible choices should have been "NONE" and that would have been correct answer for the question.
