I am not sure I understand What are you asking?
it is asking for percentage
4x^2=9y^2 sqrt both side 2x=3y you don't really need to know what is x or y

Answer is D you can use either statement for solution
it says both of t hem positive

If x and y are both positive, what percent of x is y?
1) \(10x - 15y = 0\)
2) \(4x^2 = 9y^2\)

Please explain your answer.

btw, when I worked through the problem,using stat 2 I considered 2, -2 and 3, -3. This is wrong, can you explain why?

You're right, OA = D

It says x and y are positive, but it doesn't say anything about 9 and 4, so how then do you decide not to include 2, -2, and 3, -3?

when you squareroot a number, the answer is alway positive (in the gmat). So it is 2x = 3y
