Statement 1: x = 8. Solving x-y>10 equation you get y<-2.
Given y<0 any value for X will prove x-y > x+y
Sufficient

Statement 2: y = -20. Sufficient for same reason as Statement 1.

I'm not sure if this is the best way to solve though...

If x - y > 10, is x - y > x + y?

Given: $$x-y>10$$. Question: is $$x-y>x+y$$ --> is $$2y<0$$ --> is $$y<0$$.

(1) x = 8 --> $$8-y>10$$ --> $$y<-2$$, hence $$y<0$$. Sufficient.
(2) y = -20, hence $$y<0$$. Sufficient.

Seems, i got problem with it.
(1) x=8, y=5, then 8-5>8+5 wrong
x=8, y=-5, then 8--5>8-5 right
so A looks unsuff
(2)y=-20
from x-y>x+y we have y<0 suff
Looks like (B)

If you know that x=8, you know that y has to be negative!!
--> Because: x-y>10

If x is 8 and some number is subtracted and you get a number >10, the subtracted number has to be <-2

Hence you CANNOT choose 5 for y as you did!

Hope this helps.

if x = 8 and y = 5,
then x-y>10 (WHICH IS A GIVEN !!!) is not fulfilled.........
