how can you assume that the cost per acre is the same? if the cost per acre was more for commercial than residential, then the ratio would not work...

the OA is D, but it put this question here on the forum since I thought you can't assume that the cost per acre is the same...

am i crazy to think that??? one of my friends also said that it could be possible that if the cost per acre is different for residential and commercial, then you cant figure out with B.

hmmm.. lets see. From the question, all that is needed is the ratio of revenue earned. For that we need to know the cost ratio and the number of items sold (or a ratio of it).

Revenue earned = cost/per item * # of items

in other terms, Revenue ratio = cost ratio * ratio of # items

The info to your questions are right in the GMAT question. The ratio of the cost b/w commercial and residential is mentioned as well as the ratio of acres b/w them.
