1)developed a mobile application for visually impaired along with an IoT device(smart stick)
2) another paper on econometric analysis of india’s inflation using machine learning framework and their impacts on financial markets
COMMUNITY WORK:
1) volunteered 6 months with a visually impaired school helping them with remedial teaching,scribe,large material preparation for low vision (2024)
2) Spent summer of 2023 volunteering in a mentally retarded school helping them
3) Worked with lions club for six months ,initiated several awareness campaigns during pandemic along with that a few campaigns on climate change and environment conservation awareness
4) worked closely volunteering in my uncle’s trust fund for six months involving in social/community services.
INTERNSHIP:
Worked in a startup as a software developer intern with a team of 4 in a single project
Extracurriculars:
Been playing football for a club (Bell fc) for seven years in zonals and district level and started playing recreationally after lockdown .
Karate (Oshukai international okinawa shorin-ryu karate-do)
BLUE 2 belt trained for 6 years and started training as a hobby after school .
Planning to give CFA level 1 by next year but then it will be too late
My dream schools are: HEC, Insead, LBS
Do i even have a shot ?
Hi Abishek,
We are INSEAD MIM alumni’s and from our experiences we are stating your strength and weakness
Strengths-
1) Two research paper that is really very good which shows your research skills
2) Community work which is also great showcases your values of giving back to the society
3) Good extracurriculars both in clubs and sports so that really gives you an edge
Weaknesses-
1) Low GRE score, I think you would be around 80-85 percentile whereas the top schools GRE average is on a higher end
2) Only one Internship at a stratup of 4 people (Maybe if you have made significant contributions, it can be a strength) and also you havent mentioned your college name so we don’t know if it’s a tier 1,2 or 3
Overall the GRE is a part of your application so it won’t matter much if you have a strong motivation to join these prestigious B-schools and Also, you will need to explain why you want to shift your career to business when you have so much success and expertise in a technical field.
