Is $$M < 0$$ ?

1. $$-M = |-M|$$
2. $$M^2 = 9$$

A

1. -m =|-m|
-m = m
2m = 0
m= 0

Is m<0 ? NO
Sufficient

2. m = -3 or 3
Not Sufficient

we are comparing positive value(righthand side's) with negative values(-m)..means m must be negative number : m<0 yes

A is suff.

B: m=3 or -3 not suff.

IMO :A

M *cant be negative*.

The only number which satisfies the condition in statement 1 is 0

From statement 2 we get 2 answers +3 and -3. We cannot say for sure if M is -ve or +ve.
