The answer is E.
1) states that y < 2 i.e Y can have a value 1, 0, -1, -2 ......
2) states that x is a non negative number so x can have a value 0,1, 2, 3 .....

If x = 0, y = 1
1 > 1

If x = 2, y= 1
x+1 > y

we have multiple answers hence E.

I gave two examples that satisfy both conditions but give different answers. x = 0 and y = 1.5 -> x + 1 = 0+1 = 1 < 1.5 = y. x = 1, y = 1 -> x + 1 = 1 + 1 = 2 > 1 = y -> E

This looks like you analyzed the statements separately...can you analyze them together? It seems that you did in order to get E, but I don't think you wrote that down.

I figure it was E because x = 0 and y=1, therefore x + 1 = y rather than x + 1 > y.

E: (x,y) = (0,1.5) -> x+1 < y
(x,y) = (1,1) -> x+1 > y

1: x could be anything.

2: x= 0 or +infinity

Together:

x could be 0 or 100000000000000, y can be <2.

Insuff.

got E

started with stat2; it gives you no info about what y is, so its insuff.

with stat 1, you have no idea what x is, it could be anything. insuff.

together, we know x is positive and yy ? Well, since yy . Well, since all we know is that y is less than 2, y could be 1.9 or y could be 0.1 .... so two diff values for x give two diff answers to the original question, and so answer is E
