To solve it quickly, without having to write any equation in x and then deducing it, you first go through the options. Since you see option E as one of the possibility, evaluate the sum mentally. X can be 1km, travelled with a speed of 50, then 2X = 2km, travelled with a speed of 75. Rest 97 km travelled with a speed of 40. Now there is no restrictions in time, i.e., it's not time bound. Therefore, x=1 can be a solution, and x can be any possible positive value. Therefore, it's insufficient.
